Re: The Walkers Stadium

It was obvious at the time it wasn't being promoted properly. But that wasn't the excuse they gave when they cancelled it. They said it was cancelled because they were "unable to book enough artists to fill the additional days".

If the stadium is going to be used for concerts it's not going to happen now until next summer, so they should be thinking ahead and planning for that.
I seem to recall they also said it was to do with The Princes Trust day not being able to get enough volunteers to do the stewarding. They must have taken us as a bunch of berks to spin that tale - we all knew it was that they hadn't sold enough Quo tickets to fill a phonebox.

Proves it wasn't promoted properly - or I'd have gone. So would Les Battersby

It is a fecking embarrasment that a club with our facilities, lack the commercial acumen, ambition and experience to enable maximisation of revenue.

If Bob Hazell is right and I have no reason to doubt him, that Kasabian offered to perform live at the Walkers for free, then why didnt the fcukwits accept the offer, promote the gig to attract 14,000 at say £20 per ticket and hey presto the coffers are swelled by £280,000 which would more than adequately cover any costs of holding and promoting the gig and then provide the club with the £200,000 to carry out the necessary upgrade of the stadium.

Then hey presto we have a fully available and functional concert venue, not exactly feckin rocket science, I fecking despair I really do at some of the missed opportunities by the current team, and we happily fork out massive salaries to these buffoons.

What I want to know is when they decided to spend 32 million on a stadium, which idiot decided 32.2 million was too much to spend.

Hey, I've blamed PM for lots of stuff but not this - it was TD.

How come - Mace was in charge of all media stuff & hence responsible for the concert's promotion, it failed miserably as promotion centred on the Mercury & when it should have been promoted through the music press & Midlands media

Isn't it a little odd that the Mercury should refer to Ian Bason simply as a 45 year-old fan from Glen Parva? Or is this a different Ian Bason from the one who is the chairman of the organisation that arranged for the questioning of the Football Club's chairman, which questioning led to the discussion on the subject in various quarters, which discussion led to the Club's chairman making this current statement to the Mercury.

Think it's what known as a reporter trying to hide his exclusive lead story was plucked from the Trust website piece from the beginning of the week
