Leicester City U18 5-0 Reading U18
Posted on: Sat 18 Oct 2008

Leicester City's Academy side bounced back from last week's Premier Academy League defeat as they cruised to a 5-0 victory against Reading at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.

Two goals apiece from Ricky Sappleton and Billy Kee secured the points before a strike from Ben Milnes (pictured) rounded off a convincing victory for the Foxes.

After a lacklustre opening period it took a neat move between Sappleton and Lee Cox on 15 minutes to produce the first opportunity - Sappleton finding space to lob the Reading goalkeeper and put the Foxes ahead.

Kee then tried his luck from long range before Cian Bolger cleared a goal-bound header at the other end.

Robbie Burns was unfortunate not to extend Leicester's lead as his shot was turned around the post just before the break.

The home side continued to dominate after the restart and doubled their advantage within three minutes - Kee creating space to arrow the ball into the corner of the goal.

Craig King saw his header narrowly miss the target after connecting with a Joe Cobb cross before Sappleton grabbed his second with a low strike from sixteen yards on the hour.

A quick free-kick from Luke O'Neill on 65 minutes presented Kee with another opportunity - the striker finding the net at the second attempt to put the Foxes four ahead.

The home side rounded off the scoring five minutes later as substitute Ben Milnes made the most of some sloppy defending by lashing the ball into the top corner from twenty yards.

Leicester City's U18 side return to action in a fortnight when they travel to Aston Villa.

City: Ambusics, Cobb, Bolger, Garner, O'Neill, Hicks (Milnes 45), Cox (Hoban 76), Burns, C King, Sappleton (Chamberlain 66)

According to the Sap's facebook, Reading's youth side were 'crap' - a rather stinging indictment.

i think he(Ricky) deserves to on the bench at least for our next game he is proving his worth in the youth setup
