Levein Closing In On Striker
Craig Levein says he is stepping up his search for a striker as the New Year approaches.

The Foxes boss has been openly vocal about his want to bring in a frontman to bolster his attacking options over previous weeks.

And with the transfer window reopening once again next month, Levein is already working hard behind the scenes to bring in a fresh face.

He said: "There is a little bit of money available for transfers and I will find out at the Board meeting next week just how much.

"There is only one reason why we are in the league position we are in - we just don't score enough goals.

"I am not just pointing the finger at strikers, but that is the area in which it is most crucial.

"We have a list of players who we believe will help us, although some of those names have been crossed off already following phone calls that we have made.

"We have now whittled that list down to two or three players who are possibles. That doesn't help us a lot for the Norwich or Crystal Palace games but it is important to know which way we are heading and where the money that we have available is going to be spent. I think the addition of a player, or maybe two players, would help us tremendously.

"We have players from the Premiership, Championship, lower divisions and abroad all on the list. The most important thing is that we get somebody in who has a record of scoring goals at first team level and will add goals to the squad."

we have all moaned and groaned about city but for ffs cl doing it now ,no wonder the lads have there heads down :081: :081: :081: :081: :081:

When WBA went up they didn't score a lot of goals, they just didn't let the feckers in...

Any gueses who he might have on his secret list?

Could Fowler be a possibility? He has to sign somebody that's proven, but someone that has been prvoen recently, not 10 years asgo like Micky Adams did.

I actually want him to keep his job. I just know that if he doesn't, we'll be considering someone like Steve Bruce, and he's the last person i want here!

Cumon CL do some magic.

I don't think we're so good we could tempt a manager away from a premiership club, even if they are in the relegation zone and have had half on MONs Leicester players.

We can count ourselves lucky if we bring in Steve Bruce, there are plenty of worse choices out there, Harry Bassett has recently left Southampton.

if we hang on a bit, David Moyes might be available

Nemeth from middlesbrough?

Some people on here have illusions of gradeur about LCFC or are just plain deluded - some of the suggestions are mind bogglingly stupid, or of course it could just be me!

More chance of seeing Pauline Fowler upfront for us than Robbie Fowler IMO.My suggestion is realistic I believe.

Johanson? I would probably agree that is one of the more likely premiership targets. Espcially if Charlton have the expected clearout to raise funds for Ashton (although, having watched him yesterday I cant see how Norwich value him at 8 million). Bartlett could also be a possibility in the great Charlton clearout.

Certainly dont want Robbie Fowler, he has made his money and has nothing at all to prove. He also has a bad attitude and we dont want are yougsters learning from him.

Earnshaw on loan till the end of the season would be nice but I cant see that happening either tbh.

I agree with the earlier post I think Matt Jansen on loan, with a view to a permanent deal in the summer might be a distinct possibility, especially with Rob Kelly's connections.

Another couple of suggestions :

Peter Thorne at Norwich - Proven striker at this level, not really getting too many games, and more than likely within our budget.

Ian Moore at Leeds - Another player who can score goals at this level and is nnot getting many games, has also played wide on the right so would provide some durability which does fit in with CL's previous transfer policy.

What about Jason Euell or Kevin Lisbie?

Lisbie isn't a proven enough Goalscorer for me and Euell seems more of an attacking Midfielder IMO
Jansen was a good player it just worries me that he hasn't seemed the same player since his accident and I believe Preston are interested in him.I see him as a bit of a gamble.
Bit of info on my suggestion

Our minds can rest easy now, Chris O'Grady recalled from loan spell at Rushden & Diamonds. All our goalscoring problems are over. Wonder if he'll feature against Palace!
