There must some major cash each month tied up in those players contracts, I think CL will want to spend it elsewhere.

I would imagine not far off the following:
Scowcroft - 25,000
Nalis - 6,000
Blake - 10,000
Wilcox - 10,000
Gillespie - 12,000
Dabizas - 12, 000
Gemmill - 7,000
Walker - 25,000
Dublin - 15,000

There nearly all older players who have been playing the premiership so i would reckon they would be on quite a bit.
Is this just way out?

i dont think walker and scowcroft are on that much - they are on too much however much

They all look a long way off the mark. I don't think Scowcroft and Walker are on £25k - more like £15-20.

The new players we signed in the summer won't be on anywhere near what you think. Gillespie took a pay cut in the summer (the same contract clause that allowed Dickov and Scimeca to leave).

I think our wage budget for the season was something ilke £9 million. Elliott, Walker, Jones and Scowcroft accounted for nearly half of that, which doesn't leave much left for the rest of the squad.

didnt they all have to take pay cuts when we were relegated? dont know how much of a pay cut though :?

I thought I heard that our average wage was £250,000 a year (or about £5K a week). With the big earners earning what they do, a lot of the other players must be earning much less than £5K a week. I wouldn't be surprised to see half of the team on £2,500 a week to be honest.

Not all of them, it was something that was only added to new contracts after administration, so the high earners from the Taylor era didn't take pay cuts. forgot to mention Benjamin in my previous post, he also took up quite a lot of this season's wage budget.

I'd say, more like...
Scowcroft - 20,000
Nalis - 4,000
Blake - 5,000
Wilcox - 5,000
Gillespie - 8,000
Dabizas - 8, 000
Gemmill - 2,000
Walker - 18,000
Dublin - 10,000

Levein to slash wage bill

Leicester boss Craig Levein is committed to cutting the cost of wages at
the Walkers Stadium.

Levein has revealed he is going to slash the club's wage bill by up to £5m.

"The wage bill is coming down by about £4-5m from last year. That is
something that has to be done," Levein told the Leicester Mercury.

"I am not panicking because the budget will still be among the top three
or four in this division.

"Some players are still on Premiership money so we have to get the thing
under financial control. That has been pressed home to me after what
happened here before.

"It is very similar to what I was doing at Hearts. The wage bill there
was £6m to start and I got it down to £3m."

I think that will happen with the natural wastage (ie Scowcroft) we have anyway. I would imagine CL is advertising this in case managers want any of our players that arent at the end of their deals - Massivley unlikely IMO

That, however, will include the wages of Scowcroft, Elliott, Benjamin, Walker, and probably Matt Jones

So not that much left to "slash" from this Mace-driven PR spin story

But some people seem to think we can spend all the wages saved on new players, which obviously won't happen. And some of the money saved from Scowcroft, Benjamin, and Elliott leaving early has already been spent on new players, so I'm sure there will have to be some further reductions in the summer, even if it just means the likes of Blake, Nalis, Wilcox etc are replaced by players on half the money.

The thing is though, we could get much better players for half the money so it's all good IMO.

thats all well and good dur but there might be some on here who think you wont get decent players if you dont pay decent wages...
