Lets get this thread started before Rydal (my record at starting these is ok). My negative thoughts are that weve peaked too soon ( best unbeaten runs are the final games) or Cardiff are simply better or unnessary team changes, whatever the reasons for defeat we have to respond with a win (as we did last time after Millwall). Were still in a decent position and IMO several teams above us are catchable (Trees, Norwich Leeds), what a good way to start the next unbeaten run by thrashing covscum 3-0 (Yak Bamber Gally), i dont think "back to basics" is the right phrase but the team id go for is

Ricardo (Sven rates him and he picks team)

Naughton (no question about his place)

Bamba (due a goal)
Mee (get the partnership back on track)
Van Anholt (pace edges Berner)
Abe (had a rest now get him back)
Wellens (due a good performance)
King( see Wellens)
Vassell (move to middle if Yak doesnt perform)
Yakubu (i except hes lazy but id replace him if hes having a lethargic game)
Gally (edges Dyer and Waggy for teamplay and set peices)

Subs
Brauma (seems experiment in midfield didnt work)

Shlupp ( dont need Vitor and Brauma on bench)
Berner
Weale
Dyer
Waggy

Re: Coventry H

10 players and no left back? bold move, not sure Sven will go for it though.

Wouldn't have helped much with an unbeaten run in the final games without the unbeaten run we've had lately. All thanks to the abmyssal start under PS. More likely we've peaked too late

I'd go with the same team I think, maybe Van Aanholt over Berner for the pace and he is better getting foreward and puts some decent balls into the box.

And for the fact he used to play for Cov, so more than likely will bag his first for us against them :icon_bigg

Re: Coventry H

It's a shame it works the other way for his defending.

True but hopefully he can improve that. Berner is better defensively but I can't envisage him bombing forward to support the attack or taking fullbacks on :icon_lol:

EDIT - and I just noticed I spelt forward wrong.. what a tool.

Van was poor last night but I don't think we'll see him rested since Cov don't have quite the attacking options Cardiff had.

Seems like they all had an off day yesterday. Still think he's a better option than Berner on the whole. Having said that Berner has an uncanny knack of popping up witha few goals from time to time so you never know, might be worth trying out and bringing on Van Aanholt as a fresh pair of legs to run at their defence later in the game.

Re: Coventry H

Leave defence as is.
Put Abe in for Bruma
If Vassell is fit, put him up front, dyer and gally wide.
Yak & Waggy on the bench

So drop Yak? You couldn't make it up...

It's a catch 22, Vassell has shown that outwide is not his best for us.
Yes Yak has scored some goals for us, but, and it is a big butt, Against the covscum, our football would be a lot swifter and sharper with the interaction between Vassel, Gally and Dyer.

Bring the Yak on for the last 20 to finish them off completely.

After how he played last night? I bloody would!
Looked toally disinterested and never made any sort of effort. Very disappointing.

If Sven is willing to drop players who are actually playing well, perhaps dropping players who aren't might be an idea.

I know he has scored goals and done assists, but when we've played how we did last night, he is a luxury player that isn't worth having in the side, simply because if he isn't given anything to work with, he is too fecking lazy to go and do summat about it himself.

Of course if he does play and scores I'll be delighted!:081:
