Weirdly enough, in an interview with Tenpole Tudor, he claimed he'd done the vocals on that song.
It wouldn't surprise me, Sid Vicious was hardly talented

Are you trying to ruin my next quiz round Ox?

Fail to see that Ox...:icon_eek:

It's an act of genius that cover given the habits of the DD boys in the 80s, I'm not sure if they are intelligent enough to get the full irony though.

The Grandmaster Flash original is of course an absolute classic but Le Bon takes it to a whole new level, and he takes his 'performance' so seriously and genuinely thinks he has white boy funkiness :081:

In fact the whole Thank You album is a corker on the basis of a band with very very limited talent trying to pay homage to songs of genuine quality.

Well it makes me laugh anyway :icon_roll

I'm sorry, I have a compilation of soul artists covering classic country songs if it would help with some questions? :icon_conf

Got plenty more, just that you selected several that I was planning to use. The first 10 are being uploaded now...

Eva Cassidy - Fields Of Gold.

This goes slightly against the theme of the thread as I believe the original is the best. However, this version is amazing, more emotion in this song than any other I can think of. The emotion is hightened, due to the advert with the childrens mothers dying of cancer.

Incredibly emotional song, that needs a mention. Although a direct cover, it is very difficult to compare this song to the original

Digging up this old thread, I bought Q magazine today and it's got a CD full of covers on it including:

the famous Sugababes - I bet you look good ....
Flaming Lips - Can't get you out of my head
Magic Numbers- There is a light that never goes out

and new ones such as
Editors - Orange Crush
Nick Cave - DIsco 2000

Excellent. Do you know of a source for this one?

Morrissey - That's Entertainment
The White Stripes - I just don't know what to do with myself & Jolene
and there's a brilliant version of The Passenger done by REM on Jools Holland.
