Durham Fox

El Dude Brother.
must be huge!! We havent really got shot of anyone, brought in 11!! If we cant move the likes of MdV, Douglas etc on the bill will be astronomical!!

All out of MM's pocket and i imaginehe's prepared for it. He's a businessman, wouldn't sign anyone without knowing the consequences.

We need enough players for a 1st, reserves & youth team this year. I doubt the wage budget is more than pompey's promotion season.

Id tend to disagree! Currently the wage burdon must be massive. Im not complaining, just highlights how much we needed MM.

undoubtedly, without the fresh input of cash we'd be stcuk offloading our best players and trying our best to attract low-end free transfers.

in a couple of seasons (at the very most) we'd be relegation fodder.

we were that before he took us over (in the nick of time)

The fact that we now once again have a reserve team DOES NOT, in itself, mean we need to bring in more players. Yes we certainly need a squad and I like the idea of signing back-up players who will come in and do a decent job - Shaun Newton may not be an exciting signing but, assuming he is first choice, when Kebi is unavailable at least we can put a natural right-winger in his place instead of messing around with Hughes, Maybury etc. However, I have heard people suggest we signed Jonathan Hayes for example, because we need to fill in a reserve side and that is ridiculous. The fact that we now have two decent right wingers and four decent central midfielders and three centre halves makes me confident that the days of Rob Kelly putting players totally out of position are finally now in the past.

IMO the reserve team should be made up of players that;

a) haven't featured in the last 2 league games and don't look like appearing in the next one
b) are recovering from an injury
c) are youth team players trying to prove they're worh a chance in the first team.

Going by those rules, we only needed a few more signins and a few more need to leave.

I agree with the general thrust of your post but would just like to point out that where you say '....the days of Rob Kelly putting players totally out of position are finally now in the past' I gather that the MK Don's fans have said MA used to do this as well and were sometimes puzzled by his team selections & formations. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising MA - I like what he's said and done so far. Just posting a bit of info that's all.

Oh ****..... It's going to be a season with Chambers on the left-wing and Fryatt at right-back..... :):):)

It's also worth pointing out that Rob Kelly had fark all resources and had to make do with a team constructed with no resources for several seasons before him. Men playing out of position is an obvious result of this, as the squad size is small and square pegs end up in round holes to cover injuries.

Could that be...because, like Kelly, he just didn't have the players to put in those positions? MK Dons can;t have the biggest squad in the world.

I'm not trying to defend Kellys team selection last year, which at times was very confusing. But in his defence he had a very small squad.

It's pretty big but we have got rid of Williams, McCarthy, Tiatto, Johnson, Cadamarteri, Johansson, Horsfield, Yeates and Jarrett. Quite a few of whom would have been around our top earners!!
