Darren Carter anyone? :102: From pne-online. :icon_wink

Leicester City after Carter
Inquired as to whether he is up for sale. Derek wants an offer of around 700 / 750k for him. City will match this, but are not prepared to pay Carters current wage of just short of 10k a week.

I remember we were linked with him a few years ago I think, got a very good left foot, and can score some goals as well, personally think he would be a decent signing.

Darren Carter.....Not really sure either way on this one. It doesn't fill me with excitement nor does it make me want to pray he fails the medical.

Sounds a bit like the sort of signing we used to make. A once up and coming player who, when you look at his transfer history, appears to be well on the wane! If he was any good, why would Preston be getting rid? At 25yrs he's hardly going to improve.

I believe Pearson worked with him at West Brom so maybe NP knows how to get the best out of him and what makes him 'tick'

Once again the Mercury develops a story off internet rumour.....

Leicester City could swoop for Preston midfielder Darren Carter
Wednesday, June 24, 2009, 08:00

Darren Carter has emerged as a possible transfer target for Leicester City.

The 25-year-old midfielder had limited opportunities at Preston North End last season and could be allowed to leave.

Reports suggest City manager Nigel Pearson is considering a £750,000 offer for a player he coached while at West Brom.

A spokesman for City said: "The club does not comment on speculation."

Carter moved to Preston from the Hawthorns in August 2007 on a four-year deal. The initial fee was £750,000, rising to £1.5million depending on the number of appearances.

The Solihull-born player made 34 league and cup starts in his first season at Deepdale. He began last term in manager Alan Irvine's starting 11 before suffering an injury.

Carter featured in Preston's end-of-season run that took them to the Championship play-offs but made just 11 starts.

"The club does not comment on speculation" there must be some truth in it then, surely if it was complete bollocks they would just deny it

No, as they quite clearly state, the club does not comment on speculation.

Now the YouTube scouting. :icon_razz
