Both players did/do receive shed loads of stick from fans and I wondered if fans would rather swap De Vries for Akinbiyi :102: :102:

Well MdV has scored more for us and cost about 4.5 million less. I am happier with MdV than Ade, not sure I would swap back considering Ade has already played for us and MdV is here as a target man.

Edited to add more goals per game though I am sure MdV will pass Ade's total soon enough.

The question should be Akinbiyi or 90 MdV's - that would represent the same value in terms of cash.

taking money out of the equasion, i would have MDV.

he has now shown the potential to score regularly for us, Ade's goals were months apart. i wouldn't expect either to score 20, but i have been pleasantly surprised be MDV lately.

I would sooner be surprised than disappointed.

Although I think he's OK for what we paid I am genuinely surprised MDV has scored even 6 so far,I didn't expect even this many by Chrstmas.

just a footnote to this and people giving MDV stick...this time last season David Connolly had only scored ONE goal......can't remember him getting as much grief as MDV has........

MDV or Akinbadbt, effing silly question,

MDv dont deserve the stick he is getting

Can anyone justify their decision after this evening??

I have backed MdV to the hilt but I can't anymore, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Would swap him for Akinibiyi tomorrow.

Well you would say that wouldn't you ?;) I 've no idea but how many has Akinbiyi scored this season and also it's very easy to lay the teams failings at MDV's door as usual

Not saying it's all MdV's fault by any means. He is a problem along with the rest of them. He offered nothing tonight though, not one solitary contribution in 90 minutes on the field.

But I hear nobody slating Dublin,Hughes,Hammond,Stearman,Johannsson,McCarthy it is always the same ...we lost let's blame MDV.Dublin is supposedly this great Centre Half but with him in Defence we always concede but 'Leicestar born lad' beyond criticism.

I for one have little time for Dublin although his contribution in defence this season has been head and shoulders above anyone elses.

They are all to blame HF, however in a straight choice between MdV and Akinibiyi there is a sensible choice.

So are us 17 All wrong?
Do you not think the MDV witch hunt is wrong after every bad result DF?

In a word - yes. Who will be big enough to admit they voted for MdV because they felt they should? Not because they truly believe he is a better player.

This thread started before the defeat though. I am not singling him out for any other reason than its the topic of this thread.

you can't exactly say that stephen Hughes didn't try tonnight. He was our best player, but he couldn't do anything because all of the other players were not any good at all.

Momo looked tired after about 75 mins, and didn't seem to really want the ball. There wasn't much communication between him and MDV. there wasn't much communication between all of the team, we were sloppy, and inaccurate.

I have a feeling CL is gonna go back to the drawing board and figure out why there was such a difference from Saturday. I think we'll thrash Coventry this weekend. All we need is a 3-0 convincing win and all of the supporters will be hiped up.

The whole team were crap last night so I wouldnt blame MDV at all.... MDV has improved immensely this season compared to last so I'd take him over Akinbadbuyi anyday

gotta say that if there was no money involved and it was a straight choice i would of gone for akin-bad-buy. athough he missed so many chances for us he did manage to get 12 goals i think in his 1st prem season which is not bad if you look at it that way then its not too bad of a record. and just imagine if he put away all those sitters!!! we would of probs won the prem that year and akin-bad-buy would of been top scorer by miles!!! as for MDV wenever i have seen him play his performance always appears tp be sluggish, he never wins a header and if he does it never pays off, he has no pace, he never gets anywhere near as many chances as bad-buy did although that may be down to the other players. at least akin-bad-buy gave 100% every week would never stop running and did get 10+ goals in his first prem season. will be interesting to see if MDV scores more this season than bad-buy did in his 1st

Akinbyi is not that bad a player (not good enough for the Prem though) and I think his form suffered under the weight of expectation that surrounded his £5m fee.

I also think that MdV is not as bad as some make out. He has his faults (and would not make a Prem player either on current form) but I can see him getting 15 goals or so this season. The whole team is playing with a lack of confidence at present - particularly at home.
