Leicester City is delighted to announce that midfielder Demarai Gray has committed his future to the Football Club with a new contract to June 2021.

Having made almost 150 senior appearances, the 21-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in English football and has developed into a key member of the Leicester City squad since his arrival.

The England Under-21 international joined the Foxes in January 2016 from Birmingham City and went on to help the team lift the 2015/16 Premier League title just five months later.

Demarai has continued to showcase his undoubted ability and potential - underlined by a man-of-the-match display in the 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday evening.

The winger’s brilliant run played a key part in Jamie Vardy’s opener before adding a second himself shortly after to help seal the victory.

Speaking to LCFC TV, he said: “I’m very happy. Now I just want to kick on and keep doing what I’m doing. I want to be starting games and, for me to be doing that, I have to work hard in training.

“As a whole, we’re a good group and we have a good dressing room. Now I want to get my head down and keep kicking on for the team.

“For me personally, it’s now about developing as a player and the rest will take care of itself.”

Gray began his career with local side Birmingham City and would go on to make almost 80 senior appearances – including 50 Championship starts – before Leicester City swooped to secure his services in January 2016.

He made his debut for the Foxes away to Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup in January 2016, during which he assisted Marcin Wasilewski for a goal in a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane. Demarai’s impact grew the following season.

He scored his first Leicester City goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford – a stunning long-range effort – while he also made five appearances for the team in the UEFA Champions League en route to the quarter-finals.

At international level, he remains a key part of the England Under-21s set up, having been part of the squad – along with City team-mate Ben Chilwell – that reached the European Championship Semi-Finals in the summer, with Gray scoring against Poland and Germany along the way.

This season, Gray continues to improve, having been involved in all but one of City’s Premier League games – including arguably his best display for the Foxes so far against Everton on Sunday evening.

That his club has been holding him back. From a PR perspective that is horrible for us. It makes us unattractive to young talent and it just plain makes us look bad.

If he feels this way he should raise it behind closed doors. It just isn’t professional.

You go to the local press and tell them your employer is holding you back and your career would be so much better but for them. If that was then printed I wonder how your employer would feel about it.

He didn't "go to the local press". Like most of the stuff in the mockery, they got it from another website. I think the original source was Dominic King of the Daily Mail, who was with the England u21s in Ukraine.

Unfortunately, in this case the player is broadly right and I think it needed to be said .Openness is good - in this case anyway.

Shakey was so stuck with keeping his old guard happy that there weren't too many opportunities for talented young players.
 
It just highlights the wooden approach and frankly clueless actions of Shakespeare as a manager.

I think Ranieri had more of a valid reason for not selecting him.


Either way, shut the **** up Gray and concentrate of this new opportunity you have been presented with.

Unattractive to young players? I doubt many people with their heads screwed on would read too much into the comments of a young player like Gray. He's said his bit (which isn't actually that damning) and now he has the opportunity to go and prove himself. If he doesn't, the only person looking silly will be him.
 
In fact, he's saying under the new management youngsters get their chance - making us more attractive?
