I was told today by someone at work that you can get 2 adult tickets for the Derby v Leicester match for just £20 when purchasing through Groupon.

I always thought that ticket prices had to be the same for home & away fans so can anyone (Boc) shed some light on this?

Half thinking of going for the offer to be honest as never been an away fan in a home end before!!

Clubs are allowed several "local promotions" during the season where they're allowed to have special offers for home fans without having to offer the same price to away fans. We do it regularly with things like the Mercury vouchers. Some clubs give away fans the same offer, some don't. We have a bad reputation with other clubs for doing this.

Ta Jeff & sorry for not including you in the brackets with Boc - should have known you would have been on the ball with this too!!

Readnig a few other websites though it seems like Derby have been doing this pretty much all season which is why their attendances have been so high.

I have, at Derby, Forest, Luton, Sheff U, Newcastle and Peterborough. Never had any problems, apart from at the Baseball Ground when I had to dodge coins being thrown from the Leicester end. I am able to stay quite calm when we score though, others may not find it so easy.

I think they're only allowed this kind of offer three times a season.

I've just checked, and it's four times a season - http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-5-fixtures_2293633_2125729

33.2.11 Discounts or special promotions (in each case for one match only) made available to supporters of the Home Club must also be made available on a similar basis to visiting supporters provided always that each Club shall be permitted to designate four (4) Matches per Season as 'local promotion' Matches where this Regulation shall be deemed not to apply. Clubs shall notify the Executive of the Matches so designated as and when they are designated.

Hmmmm interesting then. Will have to see if I can get someone else to come with me as wouldn't fancy trying it on my own!! Would definitely be able to keep quiet though but if it got to 3 or 4-0 it may be harder to contain the laughter!!

EDIT - Nice find Jeff, might try and find out how many Groupon deals they have done already then!!

I would have thought that as soon as the DCFC ticket office realise that you have a non Derbyshire address they might not sell you a ticket, especially given the game that it is.

Yeah that's the main worry though my work also has a place in Derbyshire which I could possibly get them sent there and then forwarded on but would be a bit of a ball-ache tbh. Can't imagine it being too uncommon for City fans living in Derby & vice versa though but do agree with you.

After a quick look I think this is only the second time Derby have done this offer this season through Groupon, the other match was the Southampton game on 15th Oct. Would be nice to see City do something similar or even for £30 would be acceptable for me and we might actually see a full house down the KP for once!!

EDIT - Ah Jeff, good work. I just used HUKD when I looked and their search is crap!! Be interesting if they do anymore then as still a lot of the season to run. Can't believe it took my about 15 mins to post that though :icon_redf

I would've thought that Leicester is close enough to be plausible. It's not too far of a stretch for a Derby born fan to move to Leicester. I'm sure an 'explanation' and the ticket office staff would be convinced. If it were Plymouth playing them, however, it'd raise a few eyebrows.

What if they score though, do you sit quiet like a sore thumb or make a half hearted effort to stand up and applaud/cheer.

We sat in the Anfield Kop when the Anfield Road stand was closed for development and city fans weren't allowed to attend. City won 1-2, for both city goals we were able to keep a lid on it and blend in with all the scousers who jumped up to have a go at their players, a few guys by us worked out we were a bit too happy but they left us alone.

Sheffield Wednesday in their Kop on a Monday night on Sky 1-1 Claridge scored a screamer I never flinched but inside I was having a disco :-)

I believe it was CLARRIDGE who scored that night.

And the final score was also 2-1 Wednesday as I was mascot that day!!
