224-7... Heading for another innings defeat. Teams like Glamorgan & Derbyshire used to be teams we would look to compete with and hopefully beat. We are now lambs to their slaughter.

Is there any real point LCCC carrying on as a professional club any more?

Over the last 3 years we have been slowly slipping further and further back and have now become a total embarrassment. No-one will bother turning up to watch. I used to enjoy going down to Grace Road but have hardly been this season. I doubt I am the only one.

Does the club actually have a strategy or plan? Signing Carl Crowe (who has now disappeared without trace), playing Charles Dagnall etc etc. Both of these players were deemed 'not good enough' before and are now older!

Does Tim Boon ever critisise the players? Every time he is interviewed on Radio Leicester he seems to be happy & laughing and coming out with comments such as 'we have a couple of injuries' or 'we batted on a lively wicket which has now flattened out for their turn' or 'they bowled very well' or 'Our lad got a lovely 70' (when the opposition have racked up 3 centuries) etc etc. Is this guy actually for real? I doubt very much other county coaches would be so content with life given the same circumstances!

It appears that next year the following players could/will be leaving:

Ackerman
Henderson
Dippenaar
Cobb (if Facebook is to be believed)
O'Brien
Nixon
Allenby (Already gone)

What sort of squad will we be left with? There is going to be a massive hole (in our squad) and what is left is pretty thin on quality. Any available player with any quality will no doubt be steering well clear of Grace Road. I estimate we need to sign at least 5 experienced proven first class county cricketers to even have an outside chance of second bottom next year.

I understand that the clubs policy next year will be to play 2 non English qualified players. I assume that will be McDonald (if the lad doesn't try and get out of his contract sharpish! Now I can see why they hoodwinked him into signing a year early!) and A.N.Other. My guess would be this could see Dippenaar sticking around.

I am deeply saddened by our plight and concerned for our future. The silence emanating from those in charge is also deafening.

Worrying times.

Oh ye of little faith Jimmy Lad, 386/7 Naik has just made his first ton :icon_eek:

It has been poor for 3 years, but of course there is a point carrying on. That's what sport is about. It's about cycles of success and failure. We were bottom of the county championship in the 80s and won it twice in the 90s. We were rubbish at onedayers then won the 2020 twice.

He has been quite vocal in the Mercury after some of our batting collapses

Unfortunately, past experience suggests that if and when they get too good then they will be off elsewhere. This has been the case ever since professional cricketers gained reasonable mobility amongst counties.

It's quite clear we will always be a 'selling club' but the worrying thing about the Cobb development was that he hasn't even proved himself at county level yet, and that's the opportunity he should and will be getting at LCCC

Our 'all-rounder' Wayne White, who batted at 7 today, now has a batting average of 10.87 after 5 matches and a bowling average of 45.71. Who mentioned Minor Counties cricketers?

Taylor/Naik 8th wicket partnership was an county all-time first class record :038:

Naik's previous highest score in f-c cricket was 16 :038:
