Well good bowling display but the batting has let us down again, with only Boyce making any runs but out for 38. Ackerman out.

Derbyshire 208
Leicestershire 86/4 (36.1 ov)

Tom New is having a nightmare run - other than his 109 in first game he has scored 119 runs in 11 innings.

Presumably James Taylor will be finishing school next week for the summer.

Really in a mess a 6 down.

With only two batsmen averaging over 40 you have to question the guts once again this season.

An overseas batter (who doesn't bowl etc) with an average of 25 is dreadful.

Can see us finishing the season in our usual position near the bottom!

Some of the batting averages are poor. Dippenaar as the overseas player should be the main man but hes done nothing so far.

New and Allenby are disappointing too :(

TJ New 228 @ 19.00
MAG Boyce 427 @ 38.81
J du Toit 326 @ 29.63
HD Ackerman 669 @ 60.81
HH Dippenaar 208 @ 26.00
J Allenby 248 @ 24.80
PA Nixon 481 @ 60.12

We finish with a deficit of 20 runs in the first innings of the Derby game... despite batting for 30 more overs than they did. We still have a reasonable chance in the game

Derbys 107-2, lead of around 130. Difficult to see them setting us a gettable target given the low scoring in this match. It will be around 3pm tomorrow before they have a lead of 300!

Couple of late wickets by Malik puts us back in the chase if we can skittle them in the morning

Derbyshire v Leicestershire at Derby - Jul 11-14, 2008
Stumps - Derbyshire lead by 153 runs with 6 wickets remaining
Derbyshire 208 and 134/4; Leicestershire 189
WW Hinds 33* GM Smith 5* MN Malik 10-1-34-2 CW Henderson 17-7-22-0

Derby 202 ahead with 2 wickets left

I know it sounds like a difficult wicket but chasing 220 or whatever in 2 sessions, you'd take that 9 times out of 10.

Minimum 80 overs plus last hour (min 16 overs) to be played on final day. 33 played before lunch. Only if they bat another 25 overs will it get very difficult given the run rate in this match so far.

All out. So Leics need 219 off minimum 42 overs + last hour.

If we lose early wickets it could be ropey - but we SHOULD do it....

Boycey goes early

These are the kind of games we need to win if we want promotion though

Boyce, New and Du Toit all gone early. New is surely struggling to hold on to his place - all 3 will need runs against Bangladesh A on the weekend.

Most disappointing is Dippenaar though, gone for a duck, This is exactly the situation your overseas player needs to step up to the plate.

will be a draw. last over 3 balls left. Allenby not going for it. 18 required
