Being the best deadball specialists in the country came from having quality delivery from Muzzy and Guppy and the likes of Heskey, Elliot, Taggart and more recently Deane, Ferdinand and Scowy on the receiving end.

We havent really got the attributes in the team to prosper from any sort of delivery, even if it was quality, on a regular basis so we can't really rely on that aspect anymore.

Some of those names bring a tear to the eye Rich.
You are right we do not have the same quaility we had back then, but if the ball in improved then at least we would get a chance to see if Paddy, Nils, Stearman ect could do a job in the goal scoring stakes, Dublin at the very least would benifit from a quality ball (would help him be the 20 goal man we need )

ok im afraid i made my initial point in a kind of convoluted way, bottom line is we dont need a 20 goal a season striker to be successful this season, thats not to say i think that none of our strikers have a chance of being prolific i think we should wait and see on that one.

a solid defence is far more important and achievable IMO with the players we have and hopefully the rest of the team chipping in with goals, which i think our style of play makes more likely though i agree our set pieces will have to improve for our defenders to get in on the act.

for those who think having a 20+ goal a season striker is essential - last season Prestons top scorer was cresswell with 16, he was also i believe the only preston player to get into double figures and they came 5th.
