Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his surprise at reports suggesting Ben Thatcher has agreed to join Manchester City.

The Leicester defender was expected to complete a £100,000 switch to the City of Manchester Stadium next week, but Redknapp insists the Wales international has verbally agreed to move to Pompey.

"Ben said before he went on holiday that he would sign (for Portsmouth), and I'd still be surprised if he didn't," Redknapp told BBC Radio Solent.
