Couldn't agree more. Douglas and De Vries looked poor, although De Vries did hold the ball up well most of the time, just looked afraid to shoot, which is a shame because people will be on his back if he doesn't score straight away.
The rest of the team played really, really well though, and we were in control for virtually the whole game, and just lost our way with about 8 minutes to go and they got the last 2 goals (although Ifill's goal was a very good goal, and nothing much you can do about those).
It sounds strange after a 4-1 loss, but that game has made me feel a bit better about the season. Ignore the last 8 minutes. We played well throughout, attacking and defending as a team, back 4 pushed up well, Williams and Gudjonsson did very well in midfield, Connolly looked on good form despite having barely featured in pre-season, and we still have players to return from injury.
4-1 is a crap result, but I don't think we should be too disheartened by it. A mistake by the keeper for the first goal, a completely unjust penalty for the second, a good goal for the 3rd and just lack of composure on the 4th. Levein will give the players a bollocking about the 4th and possibly the 3rd, and hopefully sort them out
We'll beat Stoke.
