Former Celtic and Scotland keeper Rab Douglas could be set for a comeback at Gretna if they win promotion to the Scottish Premier League.
The 34-year-old is currently out of favour at Leicester City.
Gretna stand-in manager Davie Irons told BBC Scotland: "I've spoken to his agent Blair Morgan and obviously if a player of that quality is available we'd be interested.
"However, it would be hard to attract Rab to a First Division club"
He added: "A lot depends on whether we get promoted".
Gretna are currently top of the First Division table, nine points ahead of second-placed St Johnstone with nine games remaining.
But Irons continued: "Much depend on what happens with Ziggy Malkowski who was tremendous for us on Sunday. "If he wanted to stay then that would be ideal".
