IAIN DOWIE has emerged as a shock front-runner to take over as Leicester manager. The Coventry boss is already unhappy with his board, less than three months after filling the Ricoh Arena hotseat. The Foxes’ new owner Milan Mandaric is a long-term admirer of Dowie and approached Crystal Palace for his services while supremo at Portsmouth. It could see the former Northern Ireland striker in his FOURTH manager’s job in less than 12 months.
He is locked in a court battle with Palace chairman Simon Jordan over his reasons for leaving Palace for Charlton last May.

Today's Sun. Would explain the delay. MM has made it public that he rates him. His promised millions at Cov haven't materialised. We could do worse.

I would have liked him when MM first got here but with Coleman available I do not want him now.... Maybe we would be his fourth club in twelve months for a reason.

Dowie into "Room 101" please, along with that tosser Ince

Typical bunch of ill informed responses. He wouldn't be my number one choice. I've already made it clear that I support O'Leary. However, if that ain't going to happen, I'd settle for Dowie over the other candidates. He is a bright, innovative, forward thinking manager and anyone who doesn't accept that is plain dumb.

Three facts.

1. Dowie was wanted by MM whilst he was at Pompey before Harry went back.
2. MM held talks with Dowie about the City job before taking over.
3. MM has made it public that he rates Dowie highly.

Three assumptions.

1. Dowie was going to be City boss but MM's takeover was delayed and by the time it happened, MM felt obliged to give RK some time. Hence, Dowie took the Cov job.
2. Cov made Dowie loads of promises that he's since discovered are false.
3. Dowie would much rather be our manager than Cov's.

With the ongoing court case, a developing club-jumping reputation and a job to get out of, there are many reasons why it may not happen. However, it would be fair to assume that MM's first choice in January is still very much in his thoughts in May. With MM's past with Harry Redknapp as a guide, I don't think he'd hesitate to go after whoever he believes to be the right candidate no matter what the circumstances, or obstacles, are.

yeah but surely if dowie is still at cov and milan holds talks with him about the leicester job that would be tapping him up and then the club or milan would be sued

Apart from this novel, any reasons why you want him?

Fair points, although nobody has yet posted anything that explains to me why Coleman is so great - I just don't rate the man at all.

The Palace to Charlton move was the one that stinks. It was Little and McGhee 'esque. That does trouble me.

He's a very good manager though. The only two clubs he's spent any length of time at (Oldham & Palace) made dramatic strides forward under him.

And when he finally hit the big time with money, he bombed out.

Signed shit like Diawara and Traore...

Too much baggage IMO

what makes dowie so great apart from the fact that milan wanted him as manager in january :102:

dont want the ugly fecker. he's only had half a good season since he's been in management. don't want him.

In fairness, that's not true....However, he wouldn't be my first choice. Seems like assumptive journalism at work to me.

I assume you mean the "half a good season" bit Alex, not the "ugly fecker" statement which is, patently, gospel.
