Metallica headline UK festival

The rockers take break from recording new album to hit the road

Metallica have announced details of a European tour.

The band, who are in the midst of recording the follow up to 2003's 'St Anger', will play various European summer festivals, including the Download festival on June 10-11.

A posting on the band's official website said that the rockers had set 2006 aside for "nothing but writing and recording".

However, the band were led astray by the prospect of "spend(ing) our summer vacation hanging out with the coolest live music festivals on the planet".

The dates the band will play are:
Germany,The Rock am Ring (June 3)
Germany, Rock im Park (June 4)
Holland, The Gelredome (June 8)
Download (10-11)

Is that Metallica documentary about the making of their last album as unintentionally funny as I've heard it is?

Haven't seen it. I prefer only to listen to their music, in recent years they have started to climb up their own arse. So watching them pissing around on screen doesn't appeal to me.

I'm interested in going. Some top bands will be there, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer, Motley Crue. Marilyn Manson will be there as well apparently.

My mate went a couple of years ago, he wanted to see Motorhead and Papa Roach, his 2 favourite bands, who were playing on the Sunday. Unfortunately for him, his girlfriend took some dodgy pills and was ill, and so he had to go home before he saw them. :icon_lol:
