Owls considering an offer for Dyer ...

http://www.sheffwed.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=245527

Wednesday are weighing up a move for Leicester City winger Lloyd Dyer.

Owls boss Gary Megson is looking to bolster his squad with a number of new additions and the Foxes could be prepared to let their winger leave, given that boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has the funds to strengthen his own squad for a push for promotion in the npower Championship.

Dyer was still a key performance at the Walkers Stadium last season, making 39 appearances and scoring five goals along the way, but could fall down the pecking order under Eriksson next term.

The former MK Dons man has the experience of helping Leicester to promotion from League 1, something which is a big factor in Megson's interest in the 28-year-old, and has also proven he can cut it in the Championship.

Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric also knows Dyer well from his time as Foxes chairman and will be prepared to fund the transfer fee and wages for the Birmingham-born midfielder.

But Dyer could opt to stay at the Walkers and fight for his place, despite the potential flood of new arrivals at City this summer.

The Owls will try and use the guarantee of regular first team football next season to lure him to Hillsborough, and also now have the financial backing to offer Dyer a competitive wage.

If we are indeed going to be playing 442 then we can't really let him leave.

wouldn't be surprised if he left, Sven never plays him.
be a shame to see him go.

39 appearances last season?

I seem to think was playing fairly regularly (starting games) before he got injured.Of course previous seasons do count for **** all if he's not in this years plan.

Meh, wouldn't be overly disappointed if we did sell him as not his biggest fan as see him as a bit of a one trick pony - pace. Does seem to have a half decent scoring record though and his pace can be effective so would have thought he would be worthy of a place on the bench.

Fits Sven's criteria of pace + youth but inconsistent. When he played well he could rip through a defence and cause a lot of problems.

Wouldn't be too bothered myself, though I'd be surprised if a few Championship clubs don't come in for him if he is available.

He may have made a substantial number of appearances - but his time on pitch seemed to diminish as the season went on. His main asset is pace and that's not going to improve now.

He'll be 29 early next season and if he's got anything about him will want a regular starting place and since Sven's not going to give him that, it's best from his interests to move on.

His pace against the Manchester City defence in the away reply was lightening and took his goal well. However, if we get a good fee for him and we have other better targets in mind we should let him go.
Nigel Pearson did well with getting us back into the Championship but it's nice to see the team being transformed again under Sven. He's adding more quality to the side and i wonder what our first match day squad will end up being.

Too good for a League One side, not quite good enough for a top six Championship side

Shame, 'cos when he's on it he can be outstanding
