It works both ways, the smaller countries also have players who have previously played for some of the top countries, and their experience helps the team.

If players like Joyce had to choose between playing for Ireland or having a chance to play for England, Ireland may end up missing out on players completely.

So what would you suggest to develop cricket in smaller nations? I am intrigued to hear of ex-1st class internationals who have played for England. In fact just remembered one, Hamilton from Scotland.

Anyway, Freddie after huffing and puffing for a few overs finally gets a wicket.

Mahmood is worthy of a dropping....15 off one over when the game closed secure.
Conversely 5 overs for 11 in his opening spell. He is just so inconsistent. It defies logic how up and down he can be.

England win by 48 runs.

Looking at the team, I'm happy with the form of 7 of the players. We should probably bring in Lewis for Mahmood to give us some more control. Then I'm not sure how we can sort out our top 3 problem. We'll just have to hope that they raise their game against the big sides.

He is a liability and hasn't learnt a single thing since being carted around by the Sri Lankans in the summer. For a professional and internationl sportsman that is a disgrace. At least Plunkett got wickets in Australia, but I agree Lewis should be in.
