Well so far (its halftime as I write this) all I can say is that the spanish are a fine bunch actors...the way they keep throwing themselves around is pure theatre.

England are absolute garbage, they can't pass a ball, Beckham is doing a fine impression of a clothes horse, and Rooney is a disrespectful little thug.

Rant over.

Enjoy (?!?!?) the second half!

I think that the game is really entertaining and the acting is top quality and to say the truth Spains playing around is amazing if only they were in a theatre it would probably suit them better they've just got the scenario wrong i think football pitch, theatre strange things to get mixed up between.

i know. dreadful game.
still, it's watch the match or poke the Mrs, so roll on the second half...

what a disgrace the spanish fans are. also its nice to see that the players are wearing armbands for keith weller and emlyn hughes.

The spanish fans are a disgrace. Everytime Wright-Phillips, Cole gets the ball, they start making monkey noises. I hate the filthy greasy spanish bastards.

it would be nice if the spanish FA make a public apology to our players, but there aint much chance of tht happenin, i hope they get a hefty fine and we meet them in the 2006 world cup final and beat them, by a big margin of goals. oh well final whistle and we lost 1-0, without a shot on target

What was the point in this match?Nobody was putting any effort in because nobody wanted to get injured. No new players or formations were tried out.And to top it all it was played in front of some disgraceful racist fans, the Spanish FA have some very serious questions to answer.

Nice to see Rooney chucking away that armband :?

Think what would happen if the crowd had behaved like that here, Sepp Blatter would have gotten straight onto our backs. Aragones also wouldn't be in a job if he was managing here. Sickening, but it won't be punished, it never is.

Its discraseful and upsetting to see such actions in football in the year 2004. To be honest I've followed leicester for several years home and away now and there are only a few rare incidents that I can remeber in which a player was abused because of his race (im pleased to say non involving leicester fans). No one will be suprized that Milwall this season was one, and Forest the season before last was another.

england

Can't believe how crap we were.
Sven just said we played good football in the 2nd half.
Should have gone to spec-savers

"Freedom is invisible; the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them...It was during those long and lonely years that my hunger for the freedom of my own people became a hunger for the freedom of all people, black and white...A man who takes away another mans freedom is a prisoner of hatred, he is locked behind the bars of prejudice and narrow mindedness." - Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom

I have seen the depths of humanity on the ten O'clock news before tonight, and now I have seen it on a football pitch. The colour of a mans skin should not prevent him from being free to play a game of football, or from anything else for that matter. The world today should be beyond colour or creed, and a game of football is something for us to enjoy and celebrate no matter what we believe. What I have seen tonight (and I only hope it was from a minority) was a disgrace.

From the mouth of Nelson Mandela;

"to be free is not to merely cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."

I just hope that one day we as a human race can live like this. :(

I understand your anger Nottingham, but what a paradox...on one hand their racism is a disgrace, whilst on the other they are a bunch of filthy greasy...you get the idea.

I thought you said she had a stiff neck and that you were flying solo.

If you think all Spanish people are like that disgraceful mob last night then surely that's the same as thinking all English people are like Millwall supporters?

My guess is that perhaps something was organised by a Spanish far right wing group to stir things up for whatever pathetic reason. If you see the Madrid/Barcelona game on Saturday night I would be very very surprised if there's any "comments" made towards any of the black players.

The racism aimed at our black players last night was opprobrious but it will have been the minority of 'fans' behind it. The Spanish F.A. will no doubt make a big song and dance about it for a week or two until it's forgotten, the newspapers will run such stories as "Racism destroyed my life..." and the F.A. will announce that the Let's Kick Racism scheme will be given more money. However, racism will never be totally eradicated because there will always be a percentage of mindless idiots in the population numbers. The best step forward would be a start punishing the morons responsible with a lot more vigour. Jail the cretins I say.

As for the match, well I think I'd rather have just watched 'The Mummy Returns' but that's another story. It was dire. The first half was highly entertaining, especially Rooney's most immature of shoves on their goalkeeper. That was Adam Sandler type comedy, brilliant (you know all the BBC team would have laughed at that but when the cameras got on them they were 'oh it was a stupid thing to do', forgetting that it was probably the most entertaining bit of the entire match!)

Motson and Lawrenson are the commentating equivalent of Harry and Howard. I honestly cannot stand Lawrenson, he makes me feel suicidal. When the 4th official held up his board to show 3 minutes added time did anyone hear our friend Mark say "He must have a sense of humour....NOT"? That was the biggest piece of hypocracy I have ever heard. Motson was doing his usual whine into a microphone impression, why anyone likes this sheepskin coated buffalo smuggler I'll never know. He's either whinging about the referee and licking golden balls' balls. Horrid really.

Anyway, the game will rank as perhaps the biggest pile of shite I have seen since invited round a mates house to watch Torino vs Arsenal in about 1994 in the UEFA cup, score: 0-0.

I would rate the game 0.5 out of 10. Utter crap.

Unfortunatly racism will never be totally stopped, but I thought (as many others i'd think) that I would never hear again so many people aiming racist chants. You get the odd mindless idiot every now and again, but it sounded like a big group of 'supporters' last night.
(I am not calling anybody here, this is just an observation) but it is funny how the 'tar with the same brush' comments come out on subjects like this which can almost be as bad.

To be honest Naughty, it was probably just a poorly placed microphone that captured the dreadful noises.

Last night's racism was a small part of the crowd, it was nothing compared to what the players and fans had to put with in solvakia. it was brought more to your attention in the second half with the use of microphones, but in solvakia there's no need, it was the majority of the stadium. i have heard nothing like it, racist towards england players, england fans, anything to do with england, they are all just scum, and IMO should be banned from the enxt 3 major tourniments (well it would be 4, but Euro 2004 has gone).

when standing watching the match in solvakia - luckily i was right over the end away from all this - watching the solvakin's spitting at english fans, then the english getting 'raided' byt the slovakian police and the absolute sh*t beaten out of them, then being dragged back through the solvakian fans where they were kicked spat at again and punched. then they got robbed and left on the out skirts of the city in a forest with no money no passport and still had the plastic cabel ties which were used as handcuffs.

not that i am saying what happened is right, i completely disagree, all that i am saying there's is a far lot worse happens that doesn't get picked up on and acted up on!

You could be right Joe, but it sounded as if it was coming from both sides of the ground, louder with Shaun Wright-Phillips, but from the other side when Cole had the ball.
L.T.I.D You are damn right, nothing ever happens and until it does it will continue to happen. Look what happened when England fans were told to behave or your team will be kicked out, they were not perfect but alot better. It will be in the spot light for 4-5 days max then it will all go quiet. I said the same thing ages ago when the Leeds 'fans' chanted down here, couple of days of Leeds saying 'we will find them out and ban them' but nothing happened, well nothing we heard anyway. :?
