I wish they could just play extra days so that weather can't determine the final result.

Bad light - Tea taken early.

WICKET!
KMDN Kulasekara c Pietersen b Hoggard 64 England finally get the breakthrough. A short ball from Hoggard and the batsman goes after it and holes out to Pietersen at deep square leg. A quite brilliant innings from the young man, but he's rather given his wicket away with the draw almost secured. Could he yet rue that shot?

Sri Lanka second innings 526 for 9 (192.3 overs)

Bad Light offered and Sri Lanka take it - Flintoff bowled a bouncer which made the umpire offer the bad light. ARGH!

That's it - what a shit result, fair play to Sri Lanka though. Great second innings.

It's not finished Joe

Off for bad light. Well played Sri Lanka, the game looked over on Saturday but what a fantastic effort in their 2nd innings.

Pretty spineless performance really from bowlers and fielders in SL's 2nd innings. No bollox.

I think Athers was the last one a few seasons ago, but can't remember the opponents at the moment (in NZ I think?). I'll check Wisden....

Bloody quick reply, I responded to the wrong thread! :icon_redf

Now I've used my 2000th post correcting my own post :icon_redf

7 Sri Lankan batsmen scored 50 or more in the second innings. This equals the world record set in 1934, when England played Australia in Manchester and the recent Pakistan V India series, when runs were scored with embarassing ease.
