Nobody has ever got that many batting last at trent bridge in an international test, gonna have to be one hell of a slog.
2 days to do it though, keep calm, no rash shots, they are not yet on a run chase, just keep batting sensibly and hope for clear weather.

I predict we will win by 3 wickets, if one of the top 6 can score a century then we should make it, we certainly have enough time so that isnt an issue, we need to bat sensibly, play each ball on it's merits and make sure we punish the loose deliveries.

How we bat against Murali will be the key.

FFS, Sri Lanka are literally a one man fecking team, surely the idea should have been to block out Murali as much as possible and attack the bowler at the other end. As against Warne last year, our players lack the technical skills to deal with world class spin bowlers.

Whilst the ECB has taken great strides to improve our professionalism and our results, they still have as yet been able to find a genuine world class spinner and also been unable to adequately prepare our batsman when facing a these types of bowlers.

They have been blocking him, they can't even do that properly

Fecking disgrace, typical England batting performance from yesteryear, we desperately need to get our better players back and quickly. This test has highlighted the fact that at present our bowling attack when you take Hoggy and Freddie out the equation is powder puff and our batting has been shambolic in both innings.

Apart from Vaughan, the batting was at full strength, wasn't it?

Yes it has, I was criticising the batting, at the same time highlighting the glaring weaknesses in the bowling department, sorry for any confusion !!
