Tough, tough decision this for Shakey.

Keep the same team to keep the momentum going, or make changes to rest players for the Madrid game? Or go halfway and rest just those who need most or the ones we'd struggle most without?

I'm not sure what the right approach is.

We should be safe now and although I'd love a top 10 finish, I'd love a CL semi far more! So the league isn't a priority now. We have enough games that aren't a few days before a CL game to pick up any remaining points we might need to be absolutely safe... The argument for keeping the same side is more about keeping the momentum going now than it is about not wanting to drop league points.

FWIW, I'd go for:

Schmeichel
Simpson (feel like he must need a break but we don't have the option to give him one!)
Benny
Huth
Chilwell

Gray
Drinky
Amartey
Albrighton

Shinji
Vardy (but bring him off no later than 60 mins)

Really, I'm just resting the players we have most adequate replacements for.

It's a conundrum. I really do think the team would be much better against Madrid on the back of 6 straight wins than on the back of an insipid loss against Everton. However, I totally get the argument to rest key players, especially Ndidi and DD who looked like they were running in treacle. I would go for a team capable of beating Everton but with some rested players and using all 3 subs.

Schmeichel
Simpson
Benny
Morgan (If fit, Huth if not. Is Wague anywhere near fit?)
Chilwell
Gray
King
Amartey
Albrighton (subbed early-ish)
Ulloa
Okazaki (subbed earliy-ish)

I've not got a clue really though!

Join the club.

Why would we play Ulloa rather than Slimani? Slim needs the pitch time - especially if Albrighton is on to cross the ball.

It's a tough one. My only reasoning was that I would rather have a fit, fresh Slimani as our substitute striker for Madrid than Ulloa or Musa. If Slimani was to get injured, I really wouldn't fancy going to Madrid with only Ulloa and Musa available as subs - this seems a pretty uninspiring bench that probably wouldn't be able to have an impact such as that we saw on Sunday.

I'd go with Ulloa and/or Musa up top for this reason however tenuous is may seem.

I disagree - I think Ulloa has a habit of scoring precisely when we need him to. Though, as I think has been proved before, there is some bias in that

why play inferior players?

How about Ian Marshall?

Any way back to the Everton game this is a crucial game for them and I reckon they fancy their chances, a win for us will move us back into the top half again, 8-9 place is achievable WBA are in free fall and teams are gaining ground on them. I think it is important to maintain the the tempo physically and mentally

Why have a squad?

You seem to have missed the point. They're are better players that are not starters who should be playing instead. Unless you think we should play our youth team members over our reserves because they are part of the squad.

Even with his socks down, shirt 3 sizes too big and dishevelled 'vagrant sleeping at a bus stop' look, you've got to love that man. I reckon he'd still do a better job than Musa right now.

Damning praise that I'm sure Marshy will welcome:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Marshall always looked like he'd wandered in off the street and somehow got on the pitch and no one noticed.

The Madrid players didn't quite know what to make of it when he bagged.
