New Year and let's hope for a great start I would go for the following 4-1-2-3 formation which should provide defensive cover, whilst providing more bodies getting forward to offer Vardy support. I would have Maddison operating a little deeper in an attempt to bring him more into the game and provide some additional quality in Midfield -

Schmichael

Ricardo
Maguire
Morgan
Chilwell

Hamza

Wilf
Maddison

Gray
Vardy
Albrighton

Schmeichel

Simpson
Morgan
Maguire
Chilwell

Mendy
Choudhury

Ricardo
Maddison
Albrighton

Vardy

Let the reserves play this one and let all first teamers hibernate until March.

They've already gone, based on yesterday

Soooooo tired, poor ickle lambs

It's all the fast paced football they've had to play. They'll still be tired by April. Puel needs to slow the football down a bit more.

Kasper

Ricardo Soyuncu Maguire Chilwell

Mendy Hamza

Maddison

Gray Vardy Albrighton

We all know it will be 4-2-3-1, with a remote outside chance of playing three defensive midfielders for 4-3-3

Why do people suggest anything else?

Desperation? Hope? Denial? You're right though, we all know what it'll be.

I'd hope we go

Schmeichel
Simpson Morgan Maguire Chilwel
Hamza Mendy
Ricardo Maddison Albrighton
Vardy

I don't think the lineup matters in a game of this type.

It's the kind of game that falls somewhere between the shit and the best, we'll most likely get a ****ing good seeing to

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

  • Everton have won four of the last five league meetings between the teams, including the last two, both by a 2-1 scoreline.
  • The only exception in that run was a 2-0 defeat at King Power Stadium in October 2017 in Claude Puel's first competitive fixture as manager of the Foxes.
  • Leicester's last league win at Goodison Park was a 3-2 victory in December 2015, which ensured they would be top at Christmas during their title-winning season.
  • This is the 100th top-flight meeting between Everton and Leicester.
Everton

  • Everton have lost three of their last four Premier League games.
  • They haven't won any of their last three home games (D2, L1), and conceded six goals against Spurs in their last home match.
  • Everton's record after 20 Premier League games (W7, D6, L7) is exactly the same as it was at this stage last season.
  • The Toffees have won just two of their last 12 league matches on New Year's Day (D2, L8).
  • Jordan Pickford conceded 15 league goals in December - as many as he had in August, September, October and November combined.
Leicester City

  • Leicester have lost three of their last five league games, but the other two have been victories over Chelsea and Manchester City.
  • They have earned 14 points away from home this season (W4, D2), the same number they have taken at the King Power Stadium.
  • This is Claude Puel's 50th Premier League match as Leicester manager.
  • Leicester have won four of their last five league matches on New Year's Day (D1), scoring 15 goals.
  • Jamie Vardy has been directly involved in six goals in his seven Premier League appearances against Everton, scoring four and assisting two.

We are going to get humped 4-0. Happy new year.
