I can't see us beating Ipswich, not on current form. They're exactly the sort of side we can't play against; committed, robust and energetic. Saints, well, they try and play football so we're better suited to winning that one.

I'd prefer to read it as 'could be' Either way, it'd be a boost. And with Wilf and Ricardo not far away too it's some good news.

I'm anticipating Everton being shithouse and negative, even by their standards. They've got striker issues (and looking at Daka to solve them? Cripes, that's one limb to be out on!) and I figure they'll see us as a side they must not lose to. That could just work for us.

Our defence is shite so it's kinda thoughtful of any team to not make us do it.

Hermansen back in would be a HUGE lift. He is worth points to us by himself.

This is such a vital game for us. I really hope we turn up. We lose and Everton go 9 points ahead of us (with a game in hand), then our mini league is really getting a drift - and 3 out of 4 are not odds I fancy.

Head-to-head

  • Everton have won just once in six Premier League home meetings with Leicester, drawing two and losing the other three.
  • The Foxes registered a 2-0 victory on their last trip to Goodison Park in November 2022.

Everton

  • Everton are vying to win three successive Premier League games for the first time since April last year.
  • They have kept eight Premier League clean sheets this season - only Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, with nine apiece, have a better record.
  • However, Everton have failed to score in 12 top-flight matches, more than any other side in 2024-25.
  • The Toffees have fielded the oldest average starting XI in the top flight this season, at 29 years and 13 days.
  • Iliman Ndiaye has scored three goals in his last six top-flight games, compared to two in his first 17 Everton appearances.

Leicester City

  • Leicester are seeking back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since October.
  • Ruud van Nistelrooy's side beat Tottenham 2-1 last Sunday to end a run of seven successive top-flight defeats.
  • The Foxes have scored in nine of their 11 Premier League away games this term, while 14 of their 25 top-flight goals have come on the road.
  • However, they have scored just four times in their past eight top-flight fixtures.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored seven goals in 12 league starts against Everton.
  • Vardy could become just the fourth Premier League player aged 38 or older to score in consecutive appearances, emulating Graham Alexander, Ryan Giggs and Teddy Sheringham.

Calvert-Lewin & Mangala both being out means they've lost their only decent striker AND the guy who covers their back four. So they're now about 50% worse at each end of the pitch than they were last week.

All of which means that Beto will probably get a brace & they'll keep a clean sheet.

I'm tempted to watch Bournemouth v Liverpool today instead. I've not watched Bournemouth this season (except that one game) but I've read good things of late and I like the sound of it. It could be a good game. I enjoy watching football as a rule, and particularly as an unbiased watcher with no skin in the game.

Thing is, I reckon we're in with a shout today - and skin might trump impartiality.
