We've played both sides once before in cup competitions.
We beat D&R 3-2 in the 2nd round of the FA Cup in 2008 thanks to a Fatty Fryup hattrick. We had 7 English players that day including David Martin in goal.
We beat the Gills 3-1 in the 4th round of the League Cup in 1963. We had 7 Scottish players that day and Gordon Banks in goal.

No they don't. It's on the Thursday, live on BBC 3.
I'm pretty sure they know. But their football data comes from Opta, they can't manually change it even if they know about it. A lot of websites will be showing the wrong date until Opta correct it. The Stockport v Charlton game has also moved, to the Wednesday.

Your memory is correct. We won 2-0, Matt Heath scored the first. Rooney made his Yanited debut and scored a hat trick against Fenerbahçe. It was also my birthday.

I was at Old Trafford to see the Rooney debut hat trick.
I was waited on in the treble suit by Bryan Robson after my housemate at uni won a competition with lucozade.
We all got hammered with Pat Crerand who broke the TV
