Wondered if you could give me some advice, anyone else is welcome as well!

Me and the missus are looking to have a go at making our own invites for our wedding and wondered if you knew any good places (preferably local to Leicester) that sell supplies, card envelopes, inserts etc.

The only one I know is Paperchase (or is it Papermill) in the Highcross, but wondered if we had more choice. I'd rather feel the quality etc before buying so would rather not buy online.

Any other advice you have would be great!

Cheers!

sub contract out as much work as you can, you will have less reason to hate each other for eternity should anything go wrong!

There is a superb craft shop in Hinckledash which does a good selection of wedding stationary bits and bobs to do your own.

tbh it's probably one of the biggest craft stores in the area and imo the best.*

Paperchase has some nice stuff but can be..........well it would make it quite expensive! And doing your own is supposed to save you money innit!:icon_bigg

Anyhoo, If you want to drop into Kim's Crafts anytime the girls would be very helpful. The shop has got a website, but it's an information one only, but if I remember rightly there's directions and a map on there. Getting there by satnav can be a tad confusing though, as occasionally folk end up at Coventry Rd, Burbage instead of Hincks, but the best thing to do is head for the Leisure Centre on Coventry Rd, When you get to the lights outside there you need to bear right(not straight on past the Leisure Centre) over the crossroads and you'll see Kim's on your right hand side. If you then turn right and the next lights(crossroads of corner cafe/Barracuda/ Bingo place) you'll see a short stay carpark on your right opposite Dominos, or a long stay carpark just across the way.

Sort your colour scheme out as soon as you can, and roughly draft your guest list for both the actual wedding and the evening do.
Rule of thumb with wedding invites is if you are sending out 'Save The Date' cards(American thing pffft) they need to be done and sent out a year before the big day, and the actual invites between 6 months and 4 months before the wedding. Any advice I can give you just PM me and I'll tell you what I know and how I can help.

Or, if you want, if you come to the shop on a Friday afternoon or satdee morning when Leicester are at home, I'll be in the shop serving, helping, making a nuisance of meself!!

*and I'm there more than I am at home.

MK has a good point. Doing all your own stuff can be stressful, so if you can, get friends and family to help out, whether it's helping to actually make the stationary, or to help do the tables(favours, dressing them all etc) With the invites, once you've decided on the design, having a sort of production line can be great because you can get loads done in a shorter amount of time.

I'm in the process of starting to help do one lot of stationary(best friends daughter red, white and silver) and also one of our best friends is getting wed next May so they are sorting out their colour scheme etc next week as I'm doing all that as a wedding present for them.

Cheers B I will definately give them a try. Might nip on Saturday depending on time, though I imagine you will be at Millwall!

We already sent our save the date cards out, our wedding is around Christmas time so wanted to book people in early!

Our colour scheme apparantly is blue (sapphire), white and silver to reflect the season, though it's all a bit over my head, I will just be creatinve input on the designs!

Cheers!

I know somebody that did their own name tags and are now receiving counselling.

they told me how good making some paper napkins look like swans would make me feel but not how bad

Nope, with the burglary and all we weren't really in the mood. Paid a visit to paperchase and gadsbys in town though, but they are expensive. Will try to make it this weekend, we have until June though before we need to send them out I think.

Well hopefully see you in the shop in the morning sometime then!, It will be a bit manic tohgh, as we have some famous crafting person demonstrating new products so it always tends to bring a crowd. Thankfully that'll all take place in the workshop out back so the shop should be more peaceful!

Had to have a guy come round to fit an alarm to the house today. We will get though, we need to!
