Don't think they'd be able to do this, Joey has already committed himself to AZ. He could be in legal trouble if he backs out now.

I thought the pre contact thing, was that he cannot sign for anybody else when his contract terminates here. I think that is blown out of the water if he extends his contract here before it expires.

Don't think so. He's agreed to join them in the summer, so if he signs for us instead he's breaking that agreement.

Its something someone was talking about the other day, and he is in law. These things are hard to discuss if you dont know what is written down. All he said was that the contract should say he will sign for them when his current contract with LCFC expires, but he should still be able to extend his contract before this one runs out.

Personally, I dont like these "pre contract" signings. If a club wants him they should buy him or wait until his current contract expires and sweat it out until then.

I think it's very unlikely that the club that's signing him would leave a loophole that means he could get out of it by signing a new contract at Leicester.

thats what I thought, but you know what lawyers are like, starting talking loads of bullshite when its their round at the bar.

The lure of european football is there as well, but I did see their ground on the television last week, an early hours of the morning Dutch football programme, and the ground was appalling. Made Luton look like Highbury.

I know things are a little different in football, but in general, if no money has changed hands (signing fee's, agents fees etc) yet, joey can still change his mind. if money has changed hands then AZ could sue joey, and the agents. If any compensation is due, Joey would want us to pay it if he were to stay, and that might influence whether or not we try.

Whether or not the football authorities have a different policy, to standard law, i don't know

Nonsense. Even outside football a contract is a contract even before money changes hands. The only way that Joey could stay is if he and AZ mutually agree to cancel their contract, whether or not for a consideration.

Everybody should get used to the fact that he is going and that nothing is going to stop it.

I think this is the point we should concentrate on rather then his contract! :icon_redf

he hasn't signed a contract. only pre-contract. in legal terms the 'Pre' means a lot.

I think we will sneak into the play offs. :icon_razz :icon_wink ;) :023:

It's only a pre-contract because he's not allowed to sign a contract with another club until his present one expires. But legally, if he's signed a document to say he'll join AZ in the summer, legally it's as good as signing a 'proper' contract with them.

On the way back from Luton, I worked out the table using me mob and the programme. I said to my brother 'we are ten points away from the relegation zone' and his reply was 'And how far from the play-offs'.

It's shame Levein wasnt dislogded around January time, then we would have had a chance. Progressing from our current position would be a big ask, there is a big gap but it would be good to surpass last season's points tally and position.

To Boy Genius, AZ are getting a brank spanking 15k new ground next season. In many senses they are like Luton, punching above their weight and they never get beyond 15k crowds.

They might do as there is a big hooligan problem at Ajax. That might deter some casuals. :icon_conf :icon_conf ;) :icon_wink

I think the performance from now to the end of the season is what is important. If we were to finish 4th from bottom that would only happen if our form slumps dramatically, which could have a negative impact on morale for next season and could adversely affect any possible summer signings.

If we can maintain the performances we have seen recently, even if we don't move up the table, the momentum would carry through to next season.

Personally, I think we will continue as we are and just about get into the top half and finish 11th.

who had the bet with submariner about our final points total? it could end up being interesting that.

The first job is to be safe from relegation.

We are on a good run of form under RK and if you extrapolate that over the whole season to date we would be comfortably in second place in the league (not the right thing to do, but shows how useful our results have been of late). I think it is more important that we keep up this form and carry the momentum and confidence into the start of next season.

I don't think there will be too many signings and we will rely on some of the youngsters as back up - but if they are good enough, then why not. Weso, assuming he gets fit, will step in for Gudjohnsson.

I would prefer to see the 'youngsters' allowed to break into the team gradually. I think we are putting to much reliance on Weslowski. He should be allowed to start as sub followed by occassional full games before moving on to be a permanent member of the team towards the end of the season.

We have put a lot of pressure on Stearman this season, including having him play while injured. I am not convinced that this is good for his development long term
