First ever CD?

Saw this and thought I'd ask the same question - what was your first CD (not record)?

In 1986 I bought Depeche Mode's Black Celebration. It was reduced to £9.99 in HMV (most CDs cost around £14 in those days), and I thought I'd better buy it as it was unlikely to be available at that price again :icon_roll

I couldn't play it until a few months later when I got my first CD player.

I know my first 7" and album but I've no idea what CD I first got, or MP3 download come to that.

The first cd I had was given to me by my sister, she won it on a radio 1 quiz, neither of us had a player for a year or so because it was one of the first CDs released.

My first tapes were The Brits 1995 (?), What's the story and Football Anthems.

No idea what my first CD was - think it might have been Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell.

I remember getting my first CD machine (ages after my mates) and going and getting the Elvis Costello Double CD 'GirlsGirlsGirls' (which has gone unplayable towards the end of the discs) and The Pixies 'Surfer Rosa' (which has a hole during 'River Euphrates' :icon_sad:).

So much for CDs being unbreakable and lasting forever. My vinyl LPs are generally all fine including 10cc 'Sheet Music', I think my first.

Sugar - Copper Blue

I tried to get this when it was released and the only format in the shops near me was pre-recorded cassette!

Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms.

Bought it from a "specialist" shop in Wigston Fields that was way off the beaten track. CD's were very 'niche' when I bought my first one!

Now Dance 92, given to me.

Mates always gave me shit for having it but always got an airing late in the night for a laugh.

Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms.

This, back in 198something. I seem to recall I had to do a bit of wire hacking to get my CD player to play through my music centre.

My first ever vinyl was Norman Greenbaum's Spirit In The Sky or Vanity Fair, Early In The Morning and I can't remember which one it was but it was bought from a little electrical shop in Bagshot.
