Flash, mySQL and PHP

If anyone can help it would be grand:

I am trying to connect a Flash front end to a mySQL database, without using Coldfusion. I could write a PHP page to convert the database to XML and draw that in, but would prefer something quicker. Does anyone know a way to import PHP code into actionscript? Similar to <?php include("...") ?> but for actionscript?!

I've just about mastered the quote key on here Beighton,have you tried asking Steven but if he offers to come round and show you how...decline.
