Four-midable Foxes See Off Tranmere
Posted on: Thu 01 Oct 2009

Leicester City's Reserves once more were on the goal trail, overcoming Tranmere Rovers Reserves 4-1 at the Walkers Stadium this evening (Wednesday).

Goals from DJ Campbell (2), Max Gradel and Luke O'Neill were enough for the Foxes as their totesport.com cup campaign continues.

On looking Academy Director, Jon Rudkin, will no doubt be proud as a number of his young charges comfortably took to the field alongside the returning Steve Clemence in the City line-up.

The match witnessed Max Gradel fulfil the unfamiliar role of captain on the night, a role that the young winger appeared to revel in with an all action performance in the City midfield.

A name more familiar to the captain's role, Steve Clemence, made more great strides towards full fitness completing 60 minutes on the night.

Following tonight's result City's reserves now have amassed a staggering 11 goals in just 4 games, with many of City's young hopefuls making their mark as they look to catch the eye of Nigel Pearson and his coaching staff.

City Team: Pentney, O'Neill, Bolger, Parkes, Ajdarevic, Gradel, Clemence (Milnes), Hicks, John (Moore), Campbell, Yussuf (Chamberlain)

Subs not used: Ambrusics, Hoban

When will people get it into their heads that the reason DJ is not playing is not ability related.

It's getting tedious.

I really hope Clemence gets back to full fitness, would be a great player to have in the squad!!

So? Im not saying the standard was the same, but being completely dismissive of the mans abilities based on the fact hes a **** is naive. he would definitely score more goals then waghorn in the championship.

Waghorn hasn't really played so I'm not sure what you are basing that on?

Every game ive been this season he has come off the bench for a good amount of time and has never had a decent attempt on goal. He runs around alot but never gets into good positions

He won't get a look in at City while Pearson's in charge and rightly so. I'd wager that our good form of late is largely down to the fact that the squad morale and team spirit is high - why ruin things by bringing that poisonous element, who has stated that he DOES NOT WANT TO BE HERE into the squad? What kind of message does that send to players who are slogging their guts out for a first team place?

His attitude is disgusting, the sooner he's gone the better.

Spot on, yet some people still don't understand this.

Oh i agree with you dj attitude is the reason he is out the squad, hence why i called him a ****. i was just stating from an ability viewpoint, hes better then waghorn. If people actually read what i said there wouldn't have to get all worked up
