Looking on the bright side we should get an insurance pay out and won't have to pay his wages.

N'Gotty should do himself a favour and retire now. There's no way he'll make a comeback at his age. Get the insurers to pay off his contract and let him hang up his boots.

I doubt that very much indeed.

My understanding is that we don't insure players against injury because of the excessive costs involved..and I doubt very much whether it was a condition of the loan for Cheltenham.

Sadly, we will have to pay the wages and it's just a matter of timing when Bruno officially announces his retirement. He surely won't play again.

'Tis true.

Are you sure? my understanding is that most of the players have their own insurance and the club may insure them as well. We did stop insuring players at one stage but got seriously bitten with Matt Jones and a few others, I don't think Milan is quite so short sighted.

Either way if he retires his wages are off the books.

Players nowadays insure themselves. Bruno, if he's got any sense, will not retire until his contract is finished.

Unless his insurance covers 100% of potential wages (including all win bonuses and add-ons), then he'd be better off retiring as soon as possible :icon_wink

Yes, I'm sure.

I would also think that Milan, far from being short-sighted, has looked at the figures and realised that in the long run the only people that make money out of the insurance of professional footballers are the insurance companies.

Any insurance that he has will only be in regard to the shortening of his career; it will only cover what he might have been able to earn from a future contract. LCFC are already committed to paying him for the duration of his current contract.

Fair enough, you are 100% sure that Bruno has no insurance cover at all. It seems strange to me though, Muzzy had a reasonable payout from his own insurance a few years ago but I guess he's got a better agent than Bruno.

PS. follow on post City are commited to paying him his basic wage for the rest of his contract.

Please do not try to put words into my mouth. You suggested that "we should get an insurance pay out and won't have to pay his wages"; my response and the response of others was in response to that and that alone.

I do not know whether or not the player has any insurance; I would expect that he has. But it will not cover anything that he would have earned under his contract with LCFC because he stands to make no loss in this respect and there is therefore nothing which is insurable. As I have already stated above, any insurance which he may (or may not) have would be in relation to his earning potential after his current contract.
