Great thread TYF ..... I was just about to do it myself :038:

said last season they did nowhere near enough fittness in pre-season and said everyone is much happier now with a bit of structure in training.

Martin allen really was shit.

He mentioned something about a "base of fitness", but I wasn't quite sure what he meant :)

I'm not sure whether he did either. If our fortunes were based on Fryatt's intelligance, we'd be ****ed (not that we aren't ****ed anyway!)

btw - do you think he'd just had a bacon cob and got a bit trapped between his teeth?

I can't help wondering if in this instance 'fighting fit' is an incorrect transcription of another three-syllable phrase starting with f and ending in "...it"

Fryatt must have HATED Allen. That interview is a damning indictment of last years preseason. Quite illuminating really.

He did sound a bit silly with his constant base fitness comments, but he was obviously well pissed off with the lack of decent training last season and wanted to make a point.

Suppose he didnt like his Bar B Q set then.

Hang on a minute, it's okay slagging off MA2, but you have to question the mentality of the players.

I've played football to a decent standard and knew my required fitness levels, if I didn't get this from the club training regime I'd go and do extra training to ensure I could perform to the best of my ability.

It's getting back to the blame culture, look in the mirror you bunch of feckin tits. Take some responsibility for earning so much dosh and giving so little back.

The players certainly had enough spare time to do something about their level of fitness, tossers!!:098:

So if you are at work and werent given enough time do do filing, as you were given other tasks to do, you would stay behind after work and make sure that you filing was to the high standard it should be?

Shi7 analogy i know, but you get what I am saying. :icon_lol:

If i knew that I could get a highly paid job as a PA by improving my filing skills and at the same time learning to do a bit of short hand then yes I'd do a bit of extra work.

Allen tried hard to bolster Fryatt's morale and turn him around from his 2 year sulk and lack of form as far as I remember... he made sure he was named 'player of the tournament' and given that silly BBQ.... none of it worked. I suspect not because they weren't being trained hard enough (after all Kisnorbo, McCauley, & Hume all had the same training) but because Fryatt is simply
