Hang on a minute, it's okay slagging off MA2, but you have to question the mentality of the players.

I've played football to a decent standard and knew my required fitness levels, if I didn't get this from the club training regime I'd go and do extra training to ensure I could perform to the best of my ability.

It's getting back to the blame culture, look in the mirror you bunch of feckin tits. Take some responsibility for earning so much dosh and giving so little back.

The players certainly had enough spare time to do something about their level of fitness, tossers!!:098:

Look, I'm not saying Fryatt isn't a lazy arse, and you are right there is a certain responsibility to stay fit. But I agree with Willows analogy; if your boss is crap and making you do stupid things instead of important ones, its unlikely you're going to stay late to catch up. In fact, some would make a point by letting the important tasks go untended until, I dunno, the boss gets sacked dramatically on a wednesday night?

So if you are at work and werent given enough time do do filing, as you were given other tasks to do, you would stay behind after work and make sure that you filing was to the high standard it should be?

Shi7 analogy i know, but you get what I am saying. :icon_lol:

If they worked 9 -5 and I was asking them to stay behind, then yes i'd agree with you, but how long is a typical footballers day (don't say 24 hours!!).
Normaly done by middayish, nothing wrong with an hour or two in the afternoon on the training pitch.

Ref's have to pass a fitness test, why don't footballers????

Allen tried hard to bolster Fryatt's morale and turn him around from his 2 year sulk and lack of form as far as I remember... he made sure he was named 'player of the tournament' and given that silly BBQ.... none of it worked. I suspect not because they weren't being trained hard enough (after all Kisnorbo, McCauley, & Hume all had the same training) but because Fryatt is simply

Was training with the youth team part of the morale boosting regime? What about playing him left wing in preseason?

That was his just deserts for failing to turn his game around and for not responding with improved performances. So he deserved that. Hopeless Holloway's big mistake was to bring him back in to then miss a hatful of chances whilst keeping Hume on the wing for too long. If he'd reversed even that decision by just a couple of games the club might have survived.
I'm still astounded how anyone still leaps to Fryatt's defense. The guy is useless. League 2 standard, or lower.

Footballers 'work' seven days a week, and can include bank holidays. If your successful it also means working nights flying to european matches.

Also, this myth that footballers finish by 12 is rubbish. Although they might not work 9-5 the majority of players are training from 10-4.

As for the fitness test, have you never heard of footballers taking late fitness tests before matches. Surely this shows that players have to keep a certain fitness.

See if anyone will takes the bait

Fair dues Consty. I'm not defending Fryatt by any means, he has certainly underperformed in the last few. That being said, I think he may be a pretty decent player when fit and confident. I'd like to think he is starting to realize that his career is floundering and that he plans on doing something about it.

Erm, footballers don't work 7 days a week, and they certainly don't work 7 hours a day.

A floundering Fryatt. Inform the RSPCA. Cover him in wet towels and supply him with fluids till the tide comes in. I suspect too much fluids may be the cause of his whale-like appearance in the first place.

Well that and a debilitating case of the clap incurred from other Whale-like entities.

Fryatt was unfit last season? seriously? If he hadn't have pointed it out I would never have suspected. Can't really see how he can blame anyone but himself and McDonalds for that one

Can anyone get the LCW video with Fryup to work? It keeps coming up with an error for me.

It was working. It no longer works.

It's ok now, though. He's got a base. A fitness base. A base of fitness if you will.

They seem to have sorted out whatever the problem was.
