The importance of making a good first impression on Twitter is debatable, especially if you're a professional footballer with supporters willing to follow you no matter how inane your abbreviated ramblings are. Regardless, Leicester City striker Paul Gallagher decided to immediately fulfill his promise of "banter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" with a second tweet worthy of all those exclamation points.

Said Gallagher:
Off to bed to smash @HayleyGa11agher back doors in ,,

It's important to note that @HayleyGa11agher is his wife, whose initial reaction ("Omg!!") was followed by regret over getting him on Twitter in the first place ("Good lord what have I done introducing him to this!"). The best part, however, is that Gallagher's mother-in-law, who is also on Twitter, apparently found his comment hilarious.

I bet his use of double comas will be found extremely offensive to some people.

Head like a traffic light FFS! What a cok.

Hahaha! I think it's nice that footballers show a different side to the boring persona they usually put on in interviews.

At least it was his own wife's back doors he was smashing.

Haha, follow!

I don't think you should take what he says so seriously, it's quite clear from interview etc that he's a bit of a joker. I'm quite looking forward to reading his tweets.

he's obviously got on at the request of his missus, then decided to show her up for a laugh

nice one

Wellens = Bobby Davro though?

Lovely stuff Gally.

Its a bit of a crass comment to make, but perhaps that just me as I think its an awful phrase to use.

It was funny to watch this unravel last night, clearly winding his wife up, I think he posted the traffic light joke about 5 minutes later.

I assumed that's why he used it. It has become my phrase de jour to use with my wife when I want to wind her up since the Keys incident.

more of a phrase de toujours then
