Excellent, all we need now is a LB, a Striker and a tricky LM if possible. :) :) ;)

Gerrbrand Completes Foxes Switch

Patrik Gerrbrand

Leicester City have today (Friday) completed the signing of defender Patrik Gerrbrand from Swedish club Hammarby for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and will now join up with his new team-mates ahead of the Foxes pre-season clash with Lillestrom tomorrow.

And manager Craig Levein is delighted that his seven-month chase for the centre-half has finally paid dividends.

He said: "We are finally pleased to announce the signing of Patrik Gerrbrand.

"He is a player we have been chasing since January and while the deal has taken some time to conclude I am convinced it will be worthwhile.

"Patrik fits the profile of a new breed of player we believe can help make Leicester City successful."

Gerrbrand, who is awaiting international clearance from the FA, joins fellow new signings Rab Douglas, Patrick Kisnorbo, Momo Sylla, Paul Henderson and Nils-Eric Johansson at the Walkers Stadium.

'awaiting international clearance from the fa' still time for it to go tits up :icon_lol: :102:

theres always a pessimist-hes swedish, who are a part of the eu (correct me if im wrong but im sure they are) so surely there should be no problem

I don't think that is the problem, more like transferring his registration from one Federation to another. ;)

Not a problem at all, don't worry all, just paper-work, he's ours..

I have to say this signing is exciting, for CL to have tracked him for months I think makes this a bit of a coup!

Right... Keep 'em coming CL....

I'm a happy camper today (no Homer, not like that..)

"undisclosed fee"

the swedish newspapers reported a fee of around 4 million!

well swedish kroner that is. so approx 291,970 pounds!

I agree, although I feel the striker is the more important of the two. Sheehan maybe the only LB we have on the books but we seem to have a few others that could 'cover' this position. On the striker front we have no pace, DC and MDV may still be the first choice, but it wold be nice to have a younger, faster and experienced striker sitting on the bench 'to give us something different' if the game isn't going our way.

Only approx 291,970 pounds, lets call it 300k;) :icon_lol:

Thanks for the info btw

Is this the same "undisclosed fee" we got for Matt Heath. :) :) ;)

I know this is only me being the usual pre-season optimist, but I am liking CL more and more, I love this bit from his comments on the signing, 'new breed of player' he really seems to be changing thing around very quickly with the squad, but I am realistic enough to know this is going to take time and if we get anywere near promotion it will have been a good season.

Same here, Naughty. He mentioned after the Bodo game that the team played with more energy than at any time last season. I am looking forward to that!!

Had a great morning, went down to the Wlakers to choose my seat for the season etc and the guy from the ticket office took me up in to stands via the tunnel and changing rooms etc, quality. New pitch looks awesome!

Is this special treatment down to your relationship with Tim?

I would prefer it if you rephrased that :icon_lol:

Not at all, I don't even know the bloke. The guy in the ticket office was just a good bloke and I guess it was more fun for him to be walking around the stadium than selling tickets to smelly Jocks - the place was over run with them.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Gerrbrand at left back.. CL has already said he sees Johansson as a CB and I can't see that Nissa would have joined if he knew he was going to be on the bench most games. McCarthy did well last season, and it would definetely be a shame to see him drop to the bench. But I really doubt we would have signed Gerrbrand, especially for what for us is a considerable fee by the sounds of it and after Levein has been chasing him for 7 months, to have him on the bench. Gerrbrand said of himself that he is fast and passes the ball well, so I think he may be at LB..

I hate undisclosed fees! >:o
