They are not legal tender but are exchangeable at par at UK banks. That is not to say that there are none in circulation in the UK; I had one a couple of weeks ago and, being the same size as our coins, I had no trouble in getting rid of it.

Yeh Ive got one and as stated above the newsagent up the road refused to take it earlier. Have to palm it off elsehwere!!

I see the Royal Mint have by mistake issued some undated twenty pence coins. Keep 'em peeled, they could be worth up to £150 according to some coin dealers.

had the same problem with manx coins when I was travelling backwards and forwards. Chain stores staff are never arsed where their coins come from - its the independant retailer who will make a song and dance of it - unless of course you are on the Isle of Man
