It could be that his performances have improved recently because his contract is due to end soon and he's trying to make sure he gets a new deal, either at Leicester or somewhere else.

So I think he should be offered a fairly low basic wage, with add ons for performances, to give him an incentive to play well and keep his place in the team.

This is a sorry and predicatable tale -and clearly a number of posters have been taken in.

Gillespie has been a disgrace making next to no effort until he approaches the end of his deal.

He is now putting on something of an act and I am confident that he will revert to his previous attitude if the club are taken in.

He has some ability - everybody knows that but is not the sort of player still less personality that the club needs. In addition his scoring contribution is nil - and that alone is unacceptable in a winger.

I don't think Levein will be fooled if Gillespie is putting on an act in order to gain a new contract,Levein is no fool and won't be taken in.

I really can't see where your coming from-gillespie brings little or nothing to the game he isn't a creative spark at all and he nevers puts more then two crosses in per game and your lucky if one of those is decent-Stewart played alot better then gillespie at the weekend imo

Which games have you been watch recently mate? I think you'll find if you look back at the recent goals that Gillespie is instrumental in 90% of them.

Have a word!

insturmental  i have been all the home games this season and from what i have seen of him he doesn't deserve a new contract. I agree, that in recent weeks, he has improved but i don't feel that the improvement is a great one, one that deserves a new contract.Against gillingham he did well for the first goal, but the cross for the second was not as good as some have been raving about. So unless gillespie has been rolling back the years at away games i couldn't give a monkeys if he goes...

IMO, During MA's errra, when ever Gillespie came on he used to make one or two good runs and if his attempts where let down by other players lazyness. gillespie would take on a dont care attitude and start to perform the same way the rest of the team did.

I remember one match where gillespie made a brilliant run down the wing, going past a couple of players and placed a brilliant cross into the box. there was no one there. Where was his team mates, the forwards, Blake was walking down the pitch, the lazy git could not even be bothered to jog. (I hated blake from then on) All that effort by gillespie was a total waist. If that is the attitude of his team mates and the manager was rewarding that attitude by selecting the lazy gits every week and gillespie wants to be selected, he must become a lazy git. Why the hell should he bother working his nuts of. How many of us have been in that situation at work and we all react the same way.

What is different now? CL would ream a lazy git. Can you imagine blake back in the side? No? I certainly cant. (We have moved on a lot since MA) and gillespie is getting selected because he works hard and gets results and I think as long as we have a manager that appreciates hard work gillespie will be motivated and he will respond.

Sign him. He deserves it. But watch CL drop him if he reverts to his old ways.

Are people confusing one scenario, playing crap until coming close to the end of a contract (like players really do that!), with an entirely different scenario, playing under Micky Adams?

Clean slate for everyone since Levein arrived....

given todays performance give him a new contract and if players improve towards the end of their contracts, pray that Stewarts is up soon.

Stewart had a poor game today - but he's been one of our better players since Levein arrived.

But I thought Tiatto had an even worse game today - he gave the ball away so many times - and his crossing was as bad as Stewart's (although he didn't put as many crosses in as Stewart, despite playing further forward). But I bet he doesn't get criticised for it as much as Stewart does.

I admit i don't see much of us these days ,but if Gillespie can perform like that on a regular basis then i'm sure he would become a fans favourite.
Thought he had a bit of prem class about him yesterday and stood out among alot of very average performances.
For me -YES

out of all the players u have, gillespies the one with a reputation. i reckon hes the only guy uve got just now who'd walk into rangers or celtic team.
i reckon leveins gone down there and told him what his reputation is, even in another country, and if he works his ass off he really could b great. he did the same up here, utterly changed hartley from a good, if slightly lazy player to an incredibly industrious machine of a player who any team would like (perhaps real and barca wouldnt bother, but u know what i mean :) )

i'd give gillesipie another year to prove himself and i'd bet he wouldnt let u down. guys like him are the difference between a championship and a premiership team IMO

hes been playing well but i dont think he will be offered a new deal, CL will look for a young more creative winger then keith in the summer.
