Should we get rid of Gillespie now?

Like a few other people said, I cheered when he was subbed! I think a few of the fans felt the need to boo him, which they are entitled to as they pay good money to watch the game. All fans are different and will react in different ways, whether it will be good or bad.

He played poorly but he worked quite hard.

Not sure what game you were watching?! He was booed mainly becuase he strolled around the pitch doing f**k all!!

I don't think he's lazy, just low on confidence.

He tracked back and helped the defence out when necessary, he wouldn't do that if he was lazy.

I just don't think he has the confidence to take players on. He seems scared of failure, so he just does the easy thing, which is to get rid of the ball as soon as possible.

That is exactly what I am seeing. I don't think he is that Lazy. He is no Paul Dickov but he works harder than Bent. He is just not playing well at the moment.

It always bemuses me that people moan that there is not enough flair players but when a player tries to take someone on and loses it they get shouted at.

I was as pleased as anyone when we signed Gillespie, but after yesterday I think a spell in the reserves would do him good, take the pressure off him perhaps, maybe then he might find some form. I think Hignett or even Brooker would be a better option in the meantime.

Never gonna happen, but we should revert back to 3-5-2. With Thatch, Frankie, Taggart/Elliot at the back we should look a lot better defensively.

Gimpy and Jordan would be adequate as the wing backs. Lets face it, playing 4-4-2 we are not getting many crosses in so no loss there.

And I will still be there next time singing 'Mickey Adams - Blue and White Army' for most of the match with blind faith and optimism despite struggling to agree with a number of the decisions being made.

These are my feelings one hundred per cent. There is no point playing a 4-4-2 if we don't have the players, but we do have the players for a 3-5-2. As for MA to me it shows some blind spot that he has, and that is not a good thing, in that he persists with something that we do not have the tools to do. In the long run that means we do not get the best out of our players and so the team as a whole will not achieve as much as it might.

With our limited resources we cannot afford to shoot ourselves in the foot like that.

there was a few occasions during the game when he knocked a forward pass and just stood still instead of joining the front two to support the attack! that is lazy!!

That's a classic sign of a player having no confidence. He doesn't want to get into situations where he's expected to do something good (because he's scared of failing), so he "hides" from those situations.

I mate of mine I work with is a Geordie and he says he was lazy at Newcastle too!. Skillfull and pacey but lacking in attitude! basically can't be arsed which is why Souness got rid of him!

how much are we paying him? bet he puts it all on a three legged donkey anyway!

Have you been a Brum fan for long?

Thanks for the forecast, I'll sleep easy now.

blue army 321,
do you live ant where near chelmslywood, my sis bfreind life's there, i often watch b'ham when city don't play, if you know how bad gillepie is playin and the players that couls take his place, you would boo him to m8 :)

I still think we should play Gillespie. He is a proven match winner, and can take the ball past a couple of players or produce a killer cross once in a while. Our team has very few 'match winners' and we need him.
