That is Maunders' 5th FC century and none have been scored before August! Hes getting closer though ;) Nixon 5 away from three figures too.

I was critical of the team too. I thought New should have played instead of Henderson with Amjad at 8. I suppose you can't argue with whats been done so far in this game though

Played Nixon, his first century of the season. I'd like to see New given the gloves but PN may be able to blag a starting spot as a specialist bat.

While i'm here, what do people think of the ECB's decision to go back to one overseas player?

I'm in favour of it. I was in favour of the expansion but it hasn't really been as succesful as hoped. Their simply aren't 36 world class oversea players. We've seen Cleary and Willoughby here in recent seasons and you think 'why?!!'.

It seems we only get two overseas player because everyone else is, not because we especially need them. The only teams who benefit from two overseas players are the big clubs who can actually afford to get the world class players.

Spot on. And not even many big clubs can actually get 2 world class players because of schedules.

Despite the stick they get, it's players like Flower, Ackerman etc who come here to make a career and stick with one county that are the most effective. Willoughby, Cleary and Griffith have only really been effective in the Twenty20 for us - a job that people like Masters can do just as well probably.

No, you can't. Perhaps the selectors recognised that it was a good pitch only need 4 specialist batsmen!!

All out with a 200 lead.

With three spinners in our team on what seems to be a very spin friendly wicket, I think we'll win this :)

remember we are The Team That Can't Win Matches No Matter How Good the Position Is TM

Gloucs have wiped out the 200 easily with 3 wickets down. With only Broad out of the seamers looking like taking wickets this season, we could even lose this one :icon_evil

I'm slightly embarrased for that previous post. Why did I suddenly think we had come good? We let another golden oppurtunity to win a game through our fingers.

:(

I'm so annoyed about this second innings that I've been looking through the results for past 2 seasons,. These are the games we've been comfortably ahead in and not won. Shows that we are not far away, just need some more wickets second innings. God help us when Broad is called up for England (which incidentally I think might happen if we win this test and Mahmood doesn't do well. Lewis was the logical choice for these conditions but isn't in Fletcher's Ashes plans IMO)

Last season
Yorks (h) lost after Yorks chased 405 to win

Yorks (a) lost after Yorks chased 400 to win

Durham & Northants scored over 400 in first innings with a lead of 130+ but rain meant only 1 innings played

Worcs - draw after they saved the match at 258-5 (142-5 at tea) after being set 371

Derbyshire - scored 552 in first innings, bowled them out for 190 then
match abandoned

This season
Glamorgan (h) scored 525 in 1st inns, lead of 228, they got a draw with 267-5 in 2nd inns.

Gloucs (h) set them 320 to win, they got it by 7 wickets

Glamorgan (a) scored 560 in 1st inns, we set them about 340 off 10 overs (!) and settled for a draw

Derbyshire - first inns lead of 130 after scoring 515 they got to 263-3 in the second, match drawn

Not a great record is it Glyn. Be surprised if we won this one now. Would need early wickets this morning. Not a great start from Amjad, any reports of if he's bowling well or not.(I guess not with no wickets taken).
Snapey still not turned his arm over!!!

Broad got a wicket in his first over today. The trouble was, that over was bowled after 100 minutes of the morning session!

Another wicket for Broad, and Harvey retired hurt. No-one else going to take any wickets then?? Masters seems to have stopped taking any recently, perhaps time to give Cummins a go

Essex and Worcs both wrap up convincing wins. Surrey with Kumble are about to win too. We may as well just give in now, we're not going to get promoted, we may as well play the youngsters like Cummins, Walker, New and Harrison and see what they can do.

I hope Broad gets his first 10 wicket haul in this match. One more wicket needed...

According to my calculations of the rules we have 35 overs + the last hour (min 16 overs) to score 240. It should be possible in these Twenty20 days, but we've taken 10 overs to get 27.

Just noticed that Jon Lewis has been parachuted back into the team for the final innings after not being selected for the test. Nonsense.
