Might not be as expensive as you think to go on the train. I can certainly find fares for £32 (or around £21 if you have a young person's railcard), from anywhere in West Norfolk to Southend, and that's just pay on the day tickets, it could be cheaper if you can get some cheap advance tickets.

There's the Anglia One Day Rover (or whatever it's called. That would get you as far as Ipswich at least.

I know there is an option that involves buses and obscure East Anglian towns, but the thought of that makes me shudder. I think Lynn - London - Sarfend is gonna be the quickest and most efficient.

One does a £10 day return from Cambridge to Liverpool Street for all railcard holders - use it at any time on a Saturday. It would also avoid you having to pay tube fares between KingsX and Liverpool Street.

Alternativley the Anglia Day Rover is only £7.25 for railcard holders. That would get you right from your local station to Ipswich.

Sorry, haven't got time to work out the add-ons at each end of the journey.

Takes ages to go from Lynn to Ipswich. As for the 10 quid Cambridge to Liv Street, it's gonna cost another ten quid to get from Lynn to Cambridge, unless I hide in the bogs.
Think the 20 quid day travel card to London (including tube) will be the best bet.

That's part of the option I thought of. Then CDR Ipswich to Chelmsford and Chelmsford to Southend.

I make the total fare for that £21.75

21 quid is pretty reasonable. Probably be pretty complicated, but will look into that. Muchos Gracias.

Arrrggghhh!
Stop worrying yourself over it!
I only asked if anybody could give me a lift!
You have more important things to do, dont you?

Best to ask the question again when the Southend thread is started in the Go Away section.

But as far as I can tell, the cheapest option by train, without getting any cheap advance fares is £25ish, but you might prefer the more expensive London option because of the faster journey time.

You have more important things to do, dont you?

No.

Okay Jeff,

Like I said, cheers for all the info and advice. I do appreciate it, and I'm sure I could get a pretty cheap ride but the connections round this way are so unreliable I think I'm best to stick to London.
Unless of course I persuade a mate to drive me down to Southend.

Thanks again,

Crouchy

There hasn't been anything added for the best part of 6 weeks :102:

I agree. There's nothing to stop people starting "Who's going *****?" threads elsewhere.

Wake up!! He's talking about the regular threads on the individual away games which people are filling with general chat that has nothing to do with advice about attending the game.

Well he ought to make that a bit clearer then, it's alright for you, you was involved in the emergency meeting called on how to tackle this problem at the root, I wasn't
