AJ On The Comeback Trail
Andy Johnson was back on the City training pitches for the first time today (Monday) following a lengthy absence through injury.
The former West Brom midfielder, who made the switch from the Hawthorns to the Walkers Stadium last summer, has been out of action since October with an ankle problem.
But following a frustrating time on the sidelines, Johnson was back at Belvoir Drive barking out the orders this morning.
Assistant manager Mike Stowell said: "It's a good boost for both Johno and the club - but his banter on the training ground is still rubbish!
"He's a voice and a character and it is a big plus to have him back."
Johnson went under the surgeon's knife in November, and following a few minor setbacks he is now moving in the right direction.
Stowell added: "It's been a frustrating time for him. The operation was a success and they actually found what they were looking for. When you hear those words it just makes you even more eager to get back.
"It's been a long road to recovery and he has had one or two little niggles along the way. But he has stuck at it. He's a tough lad.
"He's go to get through a couple of weeks on the training pitch now before he can take the next step. But he's not too far away."
