Injured in Feb last year which prematurely ended the excellent season where he really 'came of age'.

Ever since he's been shite hasn't he?

He signed his 'bumper' new contract at the start of the season and has regressed into a very mediocre winger. 2 goals in 16 PL appearances this season. Not influencing matches. Not tracking back to support his defence. Doesn't look confident at all.

He's 24 now and so is no longer a kid. He's a senior pro on big money gained whilst he was getting picked for England squad and being linked with Liverpool.

He's not going to be linked with anyone anytime soon unless he pulls his finger out. If we had a fully fit squad, I'd probably pick Lookman on the left ahead of him and I don't think Lookman is special at all.

How many of our players have come back to the player they were before injury?
More not, than have

Boo-arnes always seems to take a few games to get his head in the right place. Normally does ridiculous shit where the best chance he has is a rebound off his arse.....then bosh and he's away on a good run of form making good decisions etc. Problem is we aren't trying to win. Brighton at home we will battle for a point ffs. He'll come good again when trying to win games is a thing, he'll fluff plenty but will get enough right.

Agreed, one lucky goal and he's off again

It's a concern he looks wank during a period where I'm told we are an attacking delight.

it's all about application he is not doing it, he has all the attributes required to become a top draw winger and earn multiple caps at international level.
the perception and imo the reason for his below standard performances are his work ethic and desire to grip a game and win it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with his work ethic. He works as hard as anyone whenever I see him play. The problem is the tiresome sit back and watch football we are playing that is completely negating any threat he can deliver going forward.

He thrives on playing high up the pitch getting the ball and driving at defences. He can't do that if the ball spends 80% of the time we have it being pissed around by Soyuncu and whichever gimp he's playing next to.

We don't play to his strengths AT ALL at the moment.

Barnes and Thomas should be the perfect left sided partnership but, for whatever reason, they never seem to gel together. I never feel that Barnes makes himself available enough for a pass down the line.

I think some of his decision making is questionable. There are so many times when he should pass the ball but he insists on taking on just one more player and invariably loses the ball. He reminds me a bit of Jeff Schlupp in that respect.

I think him and Maddison are the two that don't work in a 4231 making us easier to play against.
If we could make a 343 work with Maddison and Barnes working as inside forwards around a centre forward then I think that's our best chance.
To do that we have to have better centre halves and full backs though, which I think was always Brenda's intention.
Our very best side with everyone fit IMO is the below played in that formation. Easy passes inside and out for the centre halves, Protection from Ndidi, runners for Tielemans to find and ability to pass through the middle. The only thing it misses is physicality for outballs and it has a few tackle shirkers in it.

Schmeichel
Fofana Evans Soyuncu
Justin Tielemans Ndidi Castagne
Maddison Barnes
Vardy

He's talked about his struggle to get his form back here. Also mentions that he's had Covid twice this season.

Maybe he'd be fitter and have caught covid less often if he didn't spend a load of his free time in London Casinos?
