This is a great signing, Hayles has scored over 180 goals in his career so far, far more then all our forwards put together, i think he is a great player with a lot of influence, having worked with IH before he knows where the net is and i think he will prove to be a great asset to a club this season

Careful, enthusiasm is a punishable offence on here.
I agree with you that this is a good signing, but will say that its OK to save me from the slings and arrows.

Again, not too enthused about this signing, but will wait and see.

Doesn't particularly have a great goalscoring record, but hopefully he can get a few and create chances for others with his hold up play.

He has a better goal/game conversion rate than any of our current strickers

when i saw BH play at walkers last season, he was deadly when he went forward and he has scored important goals, least for the tap in and one on ones i have more confident with him then fryatt

Not this season he hasn't. He's scored two goals in 24 games this season. And that's in a team that's creating a lot more chances than we are.

Fair dues, but I responding to Graz saying that his goal scoring record wasn't particularly good so I was comparing their career stats.

Howard and Fryatt would be my preferred pairing at the moment if Howard signs

If Howard completes his move in time, I think tomorrow we'll be seeing Fryatt and Howard up top with Hume in behind. Which sounds pretty decent to me.

I did say in my next post that his record was actually better than I thought ;) I just saw the 16 in 66 at the bottom to start with.. Probably still better than our other strikers, but still not great. (just over 1 in 4)

IMO no striker we could sign will score goals at this club simply because until we get some midfielders in to provide them with some service they won't see enough of the ball.

I agree.

I think instead or worring about the wingers, we should be looking at two attacking CMs who can slot the ball through to the forwards on the floor.

Didn't IH say that he wasn't going to sign anyone from Plymouth?

'Liar Liar Pants are on fire'

I've heard him say the eaxct opposite on several occasions.:102:

Forget Eastenders and King Lear, Ollie has a new starring role:

Not a signing I can make a judgement on until he's had a good run in the team.

Certainly not exciting and it lacks originality. Hopefully Ollie has more in his locker than raiding his old clubs.

Agreed and IMO only adds to fan indifference when excitement is required. As BF would say anyhoo, let's see if he really does deserve to be barracked first before starting. :icon_wink

No.

He said he wouldn't approach them for their players, if they want to sell anyone to us it would be up to them to contact us. So they've probably decided they don't want Hayles any more and thought it would be easy to offload him to us.
According to the OS, we "captured" him, that would indicate that a chase took place first.

Like all the chases for all the other players we have signed going back to Junior Lewis and beyond. :icon_roll
