Help needed in selecting a new camera

I'm looking to buy my wife a new camera. Nothing to fancy or complicated, but something with a descent zoom and pictures per second that's not to heavy or bulky. At the minute she's using a Sony cybershot DSC T90. which is fine for holiday snaps and family pics etc. but not so good in other areas

I've been looking at the Nikkon D3200, but I know very little about cameras and any advice would be greatfully received.

I don't think the Nikon is suitable, it is likely to be all of the things you don't want it to be - heavy, bulky, complicated, not great zoom (unless you spend a lot more on another lens).

Does she want a camera that does it all out the box, or would she like the ability to add more lens options, as Jeff said?

Would probably like to add more lens at some stage but initially a good starting point

I am going to be selling my Sony A300 with a few lenses soon. Its a great camera for the money and a great starting point.
