The belated August awards have revealed that Liverpool loanee Jack Hobbs was the most favoured player by the City fans, pipping team-mates Lloyd Dyer and Matty Fryatt to the award. Hobbs played consistently well in his four appearances during August, never faltering in defence whilst Lloyd Dyer proved a useful outlet on the wing with steadily improving performances throughout the month culminating in the stand-out performance of the month away at Cheltenham. Matty Fryatt's goals during August helped him in making up the top three.

Meanwhile, Paul Dickov was possibly quite harshly given the flop of the month title. Dickov made an appearance in each of the six games and played long enough to make an impression on each but unfortunately he failed to impress the fans in what was generally an unfamiliar role for him out on the wing. Young midfielder Andy King followed Dickov and goalkeeper David Martin rounded off the bottom three. While there were players with worse averages, they did not have enough time on the pitch to be considered for the awards.

And excellent work by Sheffield Fox all round too.

And excellent work by members of the Football Forum who have spotted a great deal that I missed.
I thought Tunchev was our best defender but it turns out he is one of the worst.
I find it difficult to know whether Gradel or Adams (two totally contrasting players) is better on the wing but accepted NPs preference for Adams. Now we find that Adams is one of the worst players in the club and Gradel one of the best.
I hope someone will explain why Paul Henderson is so terrible; when he played in the JPL match I thought him the man of the match.
For David Martin to manage to be one of the flops of the season while being the third most consistent player is remarkable.
I certainly didn't see Andy King as a flop. At the start of the season I had forgotten Andy King was on the books and took it that Weso would be in the team. Surely that makes Weso the flop.

The ratings are for August.

Tunchev took a while to settle in and played some games at left back.
Adams didn't play much and didn't do that well when he did, and Gradel started the season well.
Henderson didn't play in the JPT in August, he played two league games.

When has NP picked Adams over a fully fit Gradel :102:

I would like to see the Flop part dropped. Paul Dickov was playing part games to get him match fit. Andy King is a young player who forced his way into the team ahead of better known and more experienced players. He does not deserve to be described as a flop. David Martin did nothing to deserve being called a flop. Last season Martin Allen brought in flop after flop; I do not think any of NPs team deserve that label.

It's just a bit of fun. Don't take it too seriously.
