Jack Hobbs admits his confidence has been boosted by Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson's desire to sign him permanently.

Liverpool defender Hobbs has spent the season on loan at the Walkers Stadium and has played a key role in the club's push for promotion.

He has a year to run on his contract at Anfield, but Pearson has suggested he is likely to make a permanent bid for the youngster in the summer.

"If you are suggesting I might be interested in bringing him here, that would be right," said Pearson.

The Leicester chief's comments have lifted Hobbs, who believes he has improved during his time with the League One leaders.

Hobbs told the Leicester Mercury: "What he said was a great confidence-booster and I'm very happy here.

"I feel I've really grown as a player this season and it's really benefited me."

Sounds like we've got a real chance of keeping him, would be a quality purchase if we could pull it off...

He has grown and improved as player over the season and would be one of the first signings to make in the summer.

I'll admit I was entirely sure on him at the beginning of the season, but he has developed his game over the course of the season, so would be happy if we were able to sign him.

Would be a quality signing, was not best impressed when he first signed however he has improved a lot. Sign him up !

I am a bit puzzled. We will have Tunchev who I think is superb. Alongside him there is a choice of one from Kisnorbo, Brown, Hobbs and Morrison - all of whom are good. For me centre back is the least priority - are going to be Centre Back United. I think we need a big centre forward as an altermnative to Steve Howard. Howard has done well this season but will be thirty three next year and may struggle in the championship. Presuming that we cannot sign Gilbert permanently I think right back is a priority.

We can buy more than 1 player you know.

i think to be fair on him he was played at right back quite a few times early on and got some stick for not being as good. But there was one game ages ago at home when he made a crunching tackle and fromt hen on, he's been fantastic....sign that guy up!

Kisnorbo is out of contract at the end of the season, and Brown's loan deal ends as well. So as far as permanent centre backs go, we've only got Tunchevypants and Morrison. Ergo, sorting out the futures of Kisnorbo, Brown and Hobbs is quite an important decision IMO.

I'd take Hobbs over Brown. He's been a much more consistent performer and he's got his whole career ahead of him. Brown's getting to the end of his career and, if what I've heard is true, we'd have to pay about a million to get him permanently. If we can get Hobbs for a similar fee then it's a no-brainer for me - Hobbs all the way.

See, this is what gives me confidence for next season. When we got relegated last season we had the 2nd best in the division. Now, i consider Tunch to be superior to both McCauley or Kisnorbo and Hobbs to be at least equal to them if we can sign him full-time.

Unfortunately, we havent got a keeper even half as good as Fulop but even in the second of of the last season when we had Hendo in goal we had an excellent defensive record.

If we can get a good creative Izzet style midfielder and a proven goalscorer who can stay fit im just starting to think we could actually give it a real go, yknow (call me an overly optimistic mongie etc.). Sure it is a big if, these are the type of players every Championship team is after, but Pearson proved himself a dab hand in the transfer market last season and... well... im just dreaming and ill shut up... :icon_lol:

Btw, can anyone confirm when Tunch will be back? By the start of next season next season?

I reckon, if we get an unbeatable keeper, a set of solid defenders, some creative midfielders and some proven goalscorers, we might just have a team that can compete in the Championship.

What a lot of arse-biscuits
