I have to hold my hand up and say that at the begining of the season I like a few more was getting exited about our promotion prospects - How wrong can you be - I thought MA had done the best he could under the circumstances in putting together a good squad of players - however seventeen league games into the new campaign and I have to say that overall the present bunch of players must be the worst since the days of David Pleat - We have won just 1 match at home and only won 1 match on a Saturday and that was to the leagues bottom club - gone are the days when I used to slob about on a sunday morn reading about our last win - These days I have to buy the NON League paper on sunday so I can cheer meself up by reading about Hinckley Utd!!!!! - Is there anybody out there who would be seriously upset if ANY of the current squad were to leave or be sold off - and so to my main point - Who at the moment would you say is our prize asset - Who is the best player we have on the books at present and how much would you value him at - IMO the only two players who could hold down a place in the Premier league are Ian Walker and Scowcroft - Norwich were sniffing after him at the start of the season so he would be my choice - value £750,000 - sad in it.
Looking on the bright side CL will IMO prove to be a great capture for us things are bound to improve in a short while

I agree but I feel that CL has put that excitement back into the Club, supporters and players. My only concern is that he might have arrived too late in the season.

Disagree with that.

I think the present squad is better than the one Brian Little had for much of the time he was manager.

The players aren't that bad, they've just been playing badly. They're certainly capable of playing well enough to get promoted, with the right coaching and management.

I'd say we have 25% good players,50% average players and 25% shite.Better than in Pleats era IMO and probably better than in Little's days, difference being Little's team played with 'spirit' some thing has sadly been lacking this season but not anymore with Levein in charge.

Depends what you mean. In terms of playing ability then this squad is better than that of Little or Pleat. However in terms of mental strength and spirit, this side ranks way down there with any Pleat outfit.

That was down to the manager.

At Crewe you could see the change in the attitude of the players, which was much improved. The whole pace of the game was much quicker, and when we conceded equalisers we pushed forward and tried to score again, rather than defend deep like we would have done a few weeks ago. It remains to be seen whether thay can do that against better teams than Crewe, but I'm optimistic.

I still think Connolly will prove to be a good signing, I would definately be sad to see him go. How many times have we seen great saves made against him and how many times has he hit the post? He'll get there.

Connolly,Canero,Gudjohnsson,Williams,Morris,Tiatto will all prove to be good signings IMO.They might not be top drawer but I think they will all prove themselves,Tiatto should be captain IMO,might help with his disciplinary problem it worked with Walsh.

Glad to see Webyo posting again, it's always nice to read his well constructed and researched posts.

As far as the current squad goes, I think it is a case of low morale. Morale is vitally important in this league. Also, if you stack a squad full of nancy boys then ask them to play in the cold wet winter at shit holes of grounds then undoubtably they will under perform.

We have a few grafters in this squad and they will shine through this winter, when the spring arrives we shall be poised to strike and Levein will be a hero.

I think the squad we have now is exciting to be honest - my opinion hasn't changed since the summer; we just need to get the players playing to their abilities and we'll start opening up defences.

The likes of Connolly, Williams and Gudjohnsson will start really shining now and with Morris coming through I think times they are a changing.

With Levein making sweeping changes through the staff will give the players (hopefully) the feeling that this man ain't taking their bullshit, if you ain't good enough you're out, simple... with this should bring about a change in the lads which is really dramatically needed.

Also, some results we've had of late I don't think have been bad at all, a drawer at cardiff when the 'ammers got stuffed, a draw at Crewe? I'd take that to be honest, beating Gillingham where Wolves couldn't... If and i say if, Levein gets this lot playing and we go on a run then there's a lot left in this season lads and lassies, that i promiose thee.

Vote JF you muck monkeys...

Yes, its plain enough for everyone to now see how badly the club was being managed.

This was obscured to some people because the previous manager was found to be so likeable as a person.

However, I think we are going to need to be patient. I think that its as obvious as it was that the manager had it all wrong that CL has inherited the wrong mix of players to expect to achieve promotion and I'll be surprised if he can turn things round this season to the extent that we get there through the play-offs but I'm sure that things will now improve both in terms of results and style of play.

I think if you put the clock back 3-5 years on our team we'd be a decent Premier League side.

Walker
Makin
Keown
Elliott
Dabizas
Wilcox
Gillespie
Gemmill
Scowcroft
Dublin
Blake

Out of our current players I agree Scowcroft & Walker are our top players, but I think Williams & Gudjonsson could well be once they settle in properly.

I disagreed with a few people I know about who's played the best for us this season though. I think Tiatto (who I normally dislike) has been one of the only players to show guts & determination.

How's the manifesto going spin?

You could look at it like this though..

If CL could get more out of the likes of Gillespie, Gudjonsson, Williams, Connolly, Stewart, Dabizas all of a sudden we'd have a half decent squad.

Gillespie would trouble any defence in this league if he could get back to half as good as he was.

What should benefit us now is these players are playing for their future. Who would give the likes of Gillespie another crack at the bigtime if he doesn't make it here? This is it for him, he wont play in the premier again unless he starts showing some of them skills.

God I hope he see's it the way I do & starts tearing these defences apart.

I don't think anyone should write off our promotion chances just yet. We've probably conceded too much ground to finish in the first two but ours is a real dog-eat-dog league.

We could easily challenge for a play-off place and, as I well remember from my youth, it's often good to come from behind!

The basis is undoubtedly there. Confidence now could be a key element and while all sorts of managers talk the talk early on there are signs that Levein really is his own man and someone of genuine consequence and with genuine vision.

If City start playing with a swagger and a bit of the manager's ruthlessness rubs off we could become a team to fear for the run in. Fans can help. If Gillespie gets the nod it'd be nice for him to get some backing from the terraces. He just might have lost his self belief and if he can get it back it might be a trump card.

With Morris and Canero additionally available and Spearman ready for his destiny there ought to be an increasingly deafening buzz of possibility around City. Thank Heaven we shed the rotten timbers before the ship sank.

IMO, by the end of the season we will all have change our opinions about the players. some will be left behind, others will come to the fore. As alreadt said the players have been badly managed. CL will get the best out of the good players and dump the dross.

He will make it happen for us

Appointing CL will be a massive turning point for Leicester City, many of the older couldnt give a feck brigade will be shown the door to be replaced by young, hungry and energetic players. I foresee a high tempo, high energy team full of enthusiasm instead of witnessing half hearted, cant be arsed performances under MA.

Players like Williams, Gudjonsson, Connolly, Canero and Morris will come to the fore and realise there obvious potential.

Whilst Dublin, Blake and all the other lazy arses will be forced out.

I don't know how relevant it is to his footballing career, but I heard a while back Keith Gillespie has a big gambling problem.

It would be nice to see Leicester play with a tempo & lots of commitment like they did under MO. The never say die attitude is something we have missed for a few years now.

I can't remember how many signings MA made since being here, but it must be a record. Hopefully CL will get in the guys he wants & slowly draft them in. How can a team with 5-6 players that have played around 5 friendlies together finish in the top unless you've spent around £20m+ on them...

When MA took over & got us promoted, he done a grand job but..... he never chopped & changed his team. We had freebies McKinlay & Summerbee & a few players left but that was it. When MA made all these changes to me the players looked like they didnt have a clue what their team mates were going to do. We looked so unorganised.

We have every chance of promotion in this league, alot of clubs have.
Of course I wanna see Leicester in the Premierleague, but what I don't want is to see us YOYO back cos that really hurts.

i think we will show improvement as the season goes on.

allready levein has noticed players playing out of position, thats a testament to him, considering he has only been here 5 mins.

i still believe we have yet to see the best of gudjohnnson, scowcroft and connolly could be a decent combination.

gareth williams will surely come into his own,on the grounds that levein will play attacking football.

as for the defence, well time will tell, but 1 things for sure i would sooner see leicester kill games off rather than sit back.
